About

Poppy

UPDATE – SEP 21:  Poppy here … still here, I should say and not one application!  Rescues don’t like playing the “sympathy card” but I do.  All those lonely days and nights sitting in that garage, all I hoped for was someone who cared.  People are quick to denounce cruelty and neglect in the dog community but unless people start adopting and we mean adopting all dogs, we will be spending more and more time in rescues and shelters than we should.  And, that means we are not freeing up spaces for other dogs who are desperate.  Animatch is not trying to pressure people to adopt but instead to be open in their expectations.  All my little quirks can be fixed through training.  I may not have the “look” that you were expecting but hey I don’t care about yours either.  I have a desire to please and so much love to give.  Please consider adopting me.

Thanks to Pierre, our awesome photographer, who managed to get some shots with my ears up.

Poppy has a sixth sense and she knows that she has just been given her first chance at happiness – a furever home.  An actual home – not a garage like the one where she spent most of her young life.  It was a lonely place for a pup where food and fresh water were given sporadically.  She rarely had the opportunity to venture beyond those four walls to see the world.  She now enjoys the sunshine and grass beneath her feet; something most dogs experience daily.  Poppy is also realizing that there are good humans who only want to help her.

She is on the lookout for a committed and experienced family.  Of course, she will need some obedience training and socialization in different situations.  Because she was so isolated and not truly part of the family, Poppy is shy at first and introductions should be slow and easy.  Once she is comfortable, you have found a bestie.

Poppy is okay with other dogs but she does tend to play rough.  A well-balanced canine to show her the ropes would no doubt be of benefit.  Taking Poppy for a walk is quite an experience; she definitely could use some practice and a Halti or Easy Walk Harness would be recommended.  Training would truly be helpful and would make walking and socializing a pleasant experience.

This good-natured girl is all set to take the next step; she needs a human she can count on for the remainder of her life’s journey.  Would it be you?  Please fill in the Application Form if you would like to adopt Poppy.
