About

Peggy

Update – January 2024!  Yes, another year.  Peggy here, just making sure you now I'm still on the lookout for my forever family. I’ve spent far too long in rescue, and that can take its toll.  Being passed over so many times for so many months can make a girl feel less than special!  I think it’s about time someone made me feel special!   Maybe that person can be you?

Are you a loving person without cats longing for a loyal and dedicated sidekick?  Well, that sounds just perfect!  I adore the attention of respectful children, would do better as an only dog as I am quite bossy and selective, and I would be happy to learn everything else you want to teach me.  But let’s get one thing straight -- there isn’t anything more that I need to be taught about being your best friend.  Come on … let’s make this happen!  I don’t want to be writing a Valentine’s Day message.

UPDATE - SEPT. 27: Peggy (still) here and getting quite antsy.  For the love of dog, don’t say you’d love to adopt me if only you were rich, not going on holidays, or your mother-in-law didn’t have allergies.  No excuses.  Oohing and aahing doesn’t get me adopted! If you can't then pass the word to your dog-loving friends.

Everyone loves puppies. I get it. I love puppies, you love puppies, your best friend just got a new puppy, and you're beside yourself with jealousy.  There will always be the ageless wonder who never wants to stop playing.  But with age comes not only wisdom but also a more relaxed state of being for dogs.  Think about it.

Not one single application yet!  Will you be my first?  Fill in that Application Form.  Let’s spend Thanksgiving together!

Well, they say life goes on, and so shall mine. I’m so grateful to have been rescued by Animal Control in April where an “unsung hero” gave me the time to heal as much as possible.  Recently, Animatch was called on to help me with the rest of my journey.

On arrival at Animal Control, I was in pitiful condition.  What you see now is a HUGE improvement over what I was months ago.  With medication and a lot of extra TLC by the time I arrived at Animatch I was comfortable and improving every day.  I am still on antibiotics to hasten the process but I am doing so well.

The people at Animatch have assured me that they will find a wonderful family that will be patient, caring, and willing to make a true commitment.   Despite this rough patch, I am quite the social butterfly; in fact, I will drag you clear across the road to meet another dog or human.  Even though most dogs my age know how to walk on leash, I guess my previous family didn’t feel it was important.  Never to old to learn new stuff is my theory, so let’s head off to training classes.

I’m an outdoorsy kind of girl.  In addition to daily walks around the neighbourhood, a fenced backyard where I could run around and burn off some of my energy would be great.   I absolutely love being outside in all kinds of weather; I can’t wait to be rolling in the snow and making “snow dogs”.

Some day, Animatch hopes to not have to write these stories; they are very depressing.  That would be their happily ever after.  That day is still far off.  In the meantime, please consider showing me that humans can be kind, patient, and generous – no strings attached.   Fill in that Application Form and give me my first chance at a family that truly cares.
