UPDATE - SEPT 16: Well, do I have some news for you! I can see; I am not blind. I may have been but I have regained my sight. However, I will require surgery on both knees -- which will be done in November. My Foster Mom is awesome but she says the frightened little pup is no more -- I am confident and full of beans. I’m Honey Bear, a gentle, calm and trusting 5-month old Havanese puppy. I’m currently somewhat shy but when I sense you are kind and friendly, I quickly warm up in minutes. I love belly rubs and a good neck massage does not go unappreciated.

I was recently diagnosed as being fully blind, and my owner did not feel that he could manage my needs so he gave me up. Now at Animatch, I am a little uncertain of my current surroundings, but am adjusting well. The family who adopts me will have to take a few things into consideration but the truth is I’m a fast learner and with the right family, I will quickly adapt and learn to maneuver the home I am living in. I’m so very eager to have a loving forever home who will never give up on me.

My ideal family would be one that is quiet and calm but I am far from boring and as I get older and more secure, I will become a little more adventurous and may even be taught to fetch! I can be the only pet or would also welcome a gentle fur sibling to hang out with as long as they are friendly.  And while I am not used to felines, I am totally keen on hanging out with a cool cat!

Though my new family will have to be willing to make some accommodations to keep me safe and secure, I can live a full active life and participate in much of the same activities that sighted dogs enjoy. The truth is I was born blind and my other senses are super sharp! Don’t underestimate my ability to learn.

Lots of affection and a willingness to help me adjust will be important. I love yummy treats and will learn quickly with a little of these delicious temptations.
