My name is Grimes and I am NOT an oversize Beagle.  I am a proud Treeing Walker Coonhound.  My breed originated in the South and we were bred to track raccoons – that’s where the name “Coonhound” comes from. We  would then chase them up trees.  Well, there is not a big demand for dogs who chase raccoons up into trees, so I’m counting on you to keep me busy.  

I am one of six puppies who recently arrived at Animatch.  We are having the time of our life – running, playing, roughhousing.  But it will soon be time for each of us to go our separate ways with our forever family.  

I haven’t practiced much yet but apparently, I have a “bugle” like bark.  It seems that we use it when we are on the run and chasing raccoons.  It’s not a sound that is much appreciated in apartments or condos, so I’d much rather live in a house with nice neighbours.   Because I like to do a lot of nose work, I would really appreciate doing some activities that will use my keen scent skills.  A fenced yard is very important since once I pick up a scent, nothing else matters.  Thanks to this keen nose, your yard will be free of dangerous squirrels and raccoons!  

Don’t let anyone tell you that a hound is stubborn – independent thinkers maybe!  Let’s do training and I promise to be a quick study and make you proud.  A pocketful of liver treats is a great incentive.  Think of all the time you can save with this wash and wear coat of mine – more time for outdoor fun and games.
