Dixon here and my littermates and I greet everyone with an exuberant tail wag!  It takes us minutes to feel comfortable; there is no such thing as a stranger!  I am as charming as they come and I promise to be a pro snuggle bug – that is after I am well exercised.  

Now once you have stopped oohing and aahing over me, please sit down and do some research on Treeing Walker Coonhounds.  Animatch is determined to make my next home my one and only home.  

The Treeing Walker Coonhound is as Southern as biscuits and gravy; we are magnificent hunting dogs.  Treeing raccoons is our specialty but let’s face it, there is not a huge requirement at this time for dogs with this skill set.  That’s where you come in – you must find alternate outlets for my energy.  Let’s try tracking, hide-and-seek with food or toys, dog puzzles, or agility.  You get the picture; I am not a couch potato. I aim to please and first on the agenda should be some training; I am very food motivated so that will be a bonus.  

The deep voice of my breed is extremely LOUD and carries a LONG way – it has to, so the hunter can locate me in the woods.  Again, not so grand for apartment/condo living.  Thanks to my keen nose, I will follow a scent and disregard anything going on around me.  My nose never takes a day off, so if I pick up a scent, I will be gone with no concept of the danger of moving vehicles.  A hound has no street smarts!  A fenced yard to keep me safe would be ideal.
