UPDATE - JANUARY 2024

Cardi here and let’s catch up.  I have been at FIC for several months now; I needed a little readjustment.  I am happy to say that I am thriving and so ready for my furever home.  The reason that Animatch asked for help is that I was becoming a little too much of a resource guarder – not with humans but with other dogs.  

I'm  a vibrant two-year-old mix who's been on the lookout for my forever home for what feels like forever! Let me give you a glimpse into my world.

I'm what they call an "active spirit." Cuddling is cool, but I'm more of a player – you know, always ready for a game of fetch or a run around the yard. Keeping my body and mind engaged is crucial, so I'm all in for continued training and maybe even some dog sports like agility. I've heard it's a blast, and I'm ready to shine!

I'm quite the social butterfly with my furry friends, but here's the thing – I might be a tad possessive of my stuff. So, I think I'd do best as the only dog in the house. Cats, on the other hand, are a firm "no" from me – let's just say we don't see eye to eye.

I'm on the lookout for someone special, someone experienced in the doggy department. An active person or family who loves to jog or hike would be the perfect match for me. Oh, and I'd thrive in a single dwelling home, not so much in an apartment or condo – I like my space.

My name is Cardi and if you adopt me let’s go on a shopping spree for stuffies, balls, and some yummy liver treats.  You will like that I am a friendly girl; in fact, I’ve never met a stranger.  Sometimes my greetings are a little over the top – simple adolescent exuberance.  I get along with other dogs although I don’t always like to share; I respond quickly to correction.  Did I mention that I was super smart too?

I recently made the trip from Chisasibi; I had to leave my family because they did not have the time for me.  A young dog requires lots of exercise, training, and dedication in order for us to grow up to be wonderful companions.  I am so eager to learn and to please, I know that whoever adopts me will have no regrets.  

My ideal family would be one that includes me in many of their activities.  A fenced yard would be lovely; I promise to keep the yard free of all little critters.  Since I am still very young, I would not be happy spending the day on my own.  Lots of walks and play sessions (especially fetch) should be on the daily agenda.  I get along with other dogs but definitely require a feline free home.  

Obedience training is a must.  Remember, because you did it 10 years ago with old Yeller doesn’t mean that methods haven’t changed.  We both could learn a thing or two.  Fill your pockets with liver treats and sign us up.  I promise to graduate at the top of the class.
