Killing is not a way to solve the overpopulation of dogs – not in Jordan, not in Canada, not anywhere.  More countries are accepting that this is not the way to go – but it is a slow change in the mind set of many.  Mass sterilizations are the answer and more countries are using the TNR (trap, neuter, release) method.  Many dogs may never have a home but at least they won’t be bringing more and more puppies into the world.  

Her name is Zaitoneh which means “Olive”.  Her rescuer found her hiding in an olive garden in Jordan.  This beautiful dog with the sad eyes needs to find a patient person who will give her the time she needs to feel comfortable.  She is a Canaan-x and sadly they are not a breed that is always tolerated or accepted in Jordan.  In fact, in some areas they are considered pests.  

So, as she puts one paw in front of the other, Zaitoneh will be on the lookout for an experienced guardian who is keen on showing her what being a beloved pet is all about.  Obedience training would go a long way in helping her overcome her shyness.  Another calm, well-adjusted dog in the family would also help her progress.  It would be nice to see her playful side emerge.  

Although Zaitoneh will need regular exercise, she is not a hyper dog and after a day of fun she will be quite content to cuddle up and spend some quality time with her human.  As with all dogs who have gone through trauma and upheavals in their life, Zaitoneh could be a flight risk.  For that reason, a fenced yard to be her safe would be ideal.
