My name is Rufus and I am about four years old. Homeless dogs in Dominican Republic are everywhere and despite the balmy weather and ocean views, life is not a piece of cake for an orphan dog. Homeless is homeless, no matter where you live. Animatch was told that my angels (aka Rescatame Punta Cana) found me on a freeway where I was running and absolutely terrified. That day, life took a turn for me. Thankfully, I can put one paw in front of the other and dream of a fairy tale ending.
At four years old, we have a lot of years to enjoy together. For now, hanging out with the Volunteers and my canine pals is fun and certainly great socialization. But what I dream off is my very own family. I have all the qualities of a topnotch companion, you merely have to provide plenty of guidance, exercise, love, and perseverance. I get along with other dogs and am a social butterfly around humans. I sound unbelievable so far, don’t I? Now I must burst your bubble.
Since I’ve never had a lick of training nor have I ever had to walk on a leash, I enjoy lunging and barking at dogs on a walk. So, we need to tackle that immediately so that we can make our walks enjoyable, I definitely do not dislike other dogs; my Dominican pals are the best. It’s kind of like a doggie meltdown; I simply know that this crazy behaviour needs to stop. The solution to all the barking, bucking, and bravado is obedience training. Yup, sign us up!
My dream family would be an active one. I have plenty of energy, smarts and love to share; therefore, I’m on the lookout for a family that is as fun, active and loving as me! I just adore humans and all the attention they have to offer; I’ve heard that families are always ready to throw a ball, go for a walk, or just give a big cuddle. I am so ready for that life! Do you have what it takes? Fill in the Adoption Form; my name is Rufus.
