Cimba is my name and I am in search of an experienced, adult family who is looking for a project. I try very hard to always be on my best behaviour but every now and then I get myself into trouble. You see I protect my prized possessions a little too much – be it a ball, a napkin, or even a dirty sock. If it’s in my mouth, I don’t want anyone getting between me and my “treasure”.
I recently had to leave my family in Kuujjuarapik as I nipped a child because of this “resource guarding” thing that I have going on. Anyhow, that is just not acceptable behaviour and it must NEVER happen again. Dogs clearly can’t go around biting and it really doesn’t matter whose fault it is, it cannot be tolerated. I’ve been given a chance except I know that I have to put my best paw forward and prove that this was simply an isolated incident – never to be repeated!
Resource guarding is common in a lot of dogs. The good news is that with proper training, using positive reinforcement, we can both learn how to manage it. I would excel at obedience training; I’m very clever and enjoy putting my brain to good use. I learn new things very quickly, especially when a yummy liver treat is the reward. With a family who is supportive, consistent and loving, I know that I can achieve success in overcoming this problem.
I would do better as your one and only dog, although if there are no possessions involved, I am not a threat. Cats, on the other hand, are meant to be chased. My dream family must be active, patient, gentle and balance outdoor adventures with plenty of time to relax and bond. I am somewhat aloof, so I would do well in a low-traffic home where I am given a little time to warm up to new people. Of course, an adult family would suit me best.
To the new people in my life, I will offer you my own brand of love and devotion. All I ask in return is that you accept me as a valued family member for the rest of my life. Sounds like a deal to me. Please fill in the on-line application and ask for Cimba.
Please note that due the volume of applications, we are unable to respond to all applicants and ONLY those being considered will be contacted. We thank you for your understanding. The adoption application link is posted below and the adoption process is outlined on the website. Animatch asks that you read the Adoptee’s bio in its entirety before applying to ensure you meet the requirements for the dog.
