Chimo recently arrived at Animatch from Whapmagoostui – injured, terrified, and untrusting.  He did have a family who loved him dearly but, in the North, it is not unusual for family dogs to be outdoor dogs.  A fight among a pack of dogs took place over food and Chimo lost the battle.

Much as he belonged to a family, he is unaccustomed to being a house pet and needs to learn some manners.  At six years old, he is ready for an easier life.  Lots of outdoor activity will be required, he will easily get used to a soft bed, good food, and being part of his new human family.

Chimo gets along with other dogs if properly introduced and would no doubt be happier with a female.  Since Northern dogs must often fight for their food, other dogs must keep their nose out of his food bowl.   Cats or other small animals, on the other hand, would not be recommended as most Northern Dogs do have a prey drive.

Chimo is not an apartment/condo type of dog; he would do better in a single home with a fenced yard.  As much as he is food driven which makes training easier, he also is very rough when taking treats.  For that reason, an adult home or one with teenagers would be ideal.

Chimo so enjoys cold weather and finds the snow irresistible; an outdoorsy family who enjoys winter would be perfect.  Being a Northern Dog means he needs daily exercise – walking, hiking, running – in all kinds of weather!

It is not too late to enroll in obedience training, he is definitely open to learning the ABC’s of being a good canine citizen – it will only make him more loveable. Chimo is now healthy and happy and just yearning to be someone’s dog.  Won’t you make him part of your life?  Please fill in the Application Form and ask for CHIMO.
