About

Bosco

Update July 7: Introducing the new Bosco -- a tripod who is quickly adjusting to life with three legs. If you are interested in adopting me, please read my entire bio below. I have definitely come out of my shell but I absolutely require an experienced guardian with NO other animals in the home.

Update June 26: Bosco situation has changed and it is now recommended by our Vet that her front leg be amputated. We also feel that because she is very young, she will adapt to the change more quickly than later in her life. She will be having the surgery soon and will post updates. Although Bosco gets along with some dogs, she is extremely selective. For that reason, she would do better as an only dog. Bosco is so sweet and affectionate and will only have eyes for her human. Bosco will be ready to go to her new home soon after the surgery -- the best place for her to recuperate would be in a home.

*** BOSCO must be the only dog in the home.

Armenia has a sizeable population of homeless dogs who are either born on the street or thrown out onto the streets.  Day after day they risk being killed or maimed. As the country has no funded shelters or pounds, the dogs must rely on dedicated and passionate volunteers – in this case Faithful Hearts International – for their second chance at life.  Before they are rescued, their only experience has been that of a stray dog – starved, unwanted, and in many cases abused.

The day these dogs are adopted is their FIRST day as a family member – in other words, they have never belonged anywhere.  So please remember and have realistic expectations.  They may have a few accidents.  They may drag you on leash; they may even freeze and not move.  They will take some time to adapt to all the new personalities in their new pack; they may even bark at some.  It could take a week, it could take a month, it could well take much longer.  Why do people expect so much in so little time?  If you don’t feel you can commit to a dog, through all the ups and downs, then please don’t cause another disruption in their already chaotic life.

Bosco … and yes, she is a girl, what can we say …. has a story that she would love to share.  If she could tell us her tale, no doubt we would be amazed at her resolve and desire to live.  We can only imagine what life has dealt her so far.  Although shy and unsure of herself, she has no hatred for humans.  In fact, she is quite submissive around humans.

Bosco’s front paw dangles from her leg; we have no clue what has happened to her.  The Animatch Vet says that she is not in pain and there is no need to put her through an amputation which would be the only other alternative for this old injury. Bosco is not self conscious and does not care if her human has a scar or two.

Although Bosco gets along with some dogs with proper introduction, she is very selective. For that reason, she would do better as an only dog.

She would not be content to spend her days alone without any human interaction; she’s been roaming and alone her entire life.  This deserving dog needs an experienced guardian someone who will accept her as she is – flaws and all.  If you can’t offer a dog a lifetime commitment, please don’t adopt.  The Bosco’s of this world deserve better.
