About

Atlas

Let’s clear up any possible confusion.   Animatch supplies the dog but the rest is up to you …. the ADOPTER!   No, the dog you adopt won’t come toilet trained.  No, the dog won’t walk well on leash.  No, the dog won’t know their basic commands.  Yes, your adoptee may be prey driven and chase squirrels and cats!  Yes, your new pooch may use you as a springboard when he greets you! Yes, your new BFF may well be a counter-surfer who will force you to put away leftovers!  You have adopted a dog; the works starts on Day One.

Adoption is a wonderful thing!  Many dogs, through no fault of their own, need a new home. Unfortunately, many people are unprepared for the challenges of living with a dog who may be shy, fearful, or stressed by the changes in their lives. They are living beings that need affection and acceptance as would any family member. You're adopting a life, one that may be with you for several years.  Adoption is a serious commitment – you make a promise that you will do all possible to make this dog part of your family.

Animatch will always take back our dogs; in fact, we do offer a two-week trial period.  However, this “trial” should only be used for unforeseen or extenuating circumstances. This is not the time to be “trying out a living being” to see if it fits into your lifestyle.

Atlas is a boisterous adolescent with a tail that never stops wagging and eyes that will melt your heart.  He may be too big for cuddles but this guy can’t be blamed for trying to find a lap that might fit.  What you see if what you get – if you want history, there is none to speak of.  He arrived from Whapmagoostui in search of a home and we promise to find him one.

Atlas is a diamond in the rough so obedience training would be recommended; you will both learn a ton of stuff.  He is too young and active to spend the day on his own, so we are looking for a family where he is not alone all day.

If you think that you have what it takes to be his ride-or-die human, then by all means fill in that Application Form.

“Love them or don’t get them.  It’s that simple.”
