In the spring of 2008 I got to adopt my dream dog from Animatch….a Bernese Mountain Dog named Riley. Our first meeting at Animatch was a little overwhelming. A door opened and in came 115 lbs. of flying fur, huge eyes and massive paws! We all hugged the wall not knowing what to do!
He made the rounds to each one of us, sure to sit on our feet! Those huge eyes looked up at us, huge tail high and curled in the air, and just happy, happy, happy.
In the spring of 2013 I lost my best friend. I knew he was getting old but wasn’t prepared for the news the vet was to deliver. Riley had a huge mass in his stomach and so many tumors around his heart that you couldn’t even see his heart on the xray (but I knew it was there). We had 1 month left with our big bear.
When we adopted Riley he was 7 years old. We knew going in that we wouldn’t have much time with him but if we could give him a couple of years of love then we were ready to make the commitment to him. Riley came to us as a happy boy and left a happy boy. I refused to let him suffer. I know in my heart that he knew he was loved and that he was my special guy. As hard as it is to make that decision to put your dog down, it was worth all the love, joy and unconditional love that he gave us.
To anyone reading this and considering adopting a dog….DO IT!!! But be responsible. Let Helen help find a perfect match for you and get ready for the most unique and unconditional love you will ever receive. The love of your pet makes you feel like the Grinch…..your heart will grow 2 sizes that day!!!!
So on behalf of my family and the big bear himself, RILEY, thank you Animatch. You are all truly doggy angels! Don’t ever stop taking those precious fur balls in and finding loving homes for them.
With love and gratitude,
RILEY and his family Brenda, Sylvain, Alexandre, Brandon and Kasey…oh yeah and Bella and Coco too!
Animatch hosts it’s annual perennial sale at a new location! Come out and see us and pick up some fabulous perennials at exceptional prices. Animatch adoptees will be on site between 11:00 and 2:00.
A year ago today, Helen said ’ come Sassy were going on a road trip’. Well, I thought we were just going for a short drive to see how I do in a car. We ended up at Mom’s 8 hours later ! Talk about testing.
I overheard the volunteers at the Center talk about a Trial Period .. I’ve put my people parents thru a trial period, they came out of it with a perfect mark.
Mom and Dad keep saying they love me to no ends, even though I’ve earn the right to be called a No No Girl, I wear my name with Pride too. The other thing I learned this year, is that I am part of their family! Do you guys know that it means? I do I do !!!!! it means: regardless of what I do, being good or bad, I am HOME forever and a day. I love them and they love me.
Here I am telling Mom ” look those things fell off the trees again” this time, I’ll help you pick them up - heck they stick all over me, I’ll just shake them off later.” I gotta go because Mom has a special treat for me.
My one year wish is that all furbuddies find their own forever family to love.
Guess what ... it’s my birthday!!!!
I had a great big party with my 3 best friends. Mom got me a raw venison steak for my birthday “cake” and then we each had a huge raw meaty bone! It kept us busy for a good 2 hours and we all needed a bath afterwards but boy was it ever good!! Of course, we had to have a photoshoot. Luckily, we were all on our best behavior and even posed for a picture together (with hats!). My birthday ended with the first campfire of the season and now I’m fast asleep in mom’s bed. A perfect day
Hi all. I’m sorry I’ve not contacted you in so very long. I’m not sending a picture of my handsome self this time. Instead, I’m posting a picture of my house-mate that has now crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. It took a year for her to ‘allow’ me to play with her, tug on and share sticks and compete with each other to catch a ball. But, since I was part of ‘her’ pack, she treated me with the respect that only an awesome guy like me deserves! So, she was o.k. and I kind of miss her. No worries - I’m taking great care of my beloved Catherine. She tells me and shows me each and every day how much she loves me, and even strangers see how attentive to her that I am. My job now is to make her feel better, and she tells me that I am doing a great job! She still calls me her ‘handsome dude’, so I know her eyesight is still o.k.! Thanks again for trusting her to take me home with her and be her handsome dude, three years ago now.
Bonjour,

And the winner is ........................ Lori Herrel, our very own Animatch Volunteer. Thanks to West Jet for this very generous donation.
A snow storm could not keep Animatch Supporters from attending our Pasta for Pups. After a great meal (thanks to cooks, servers, and all Volunteers who made this possible) and a lively and entertaining auction (thanks to Auctioneer, Fraser Lawrence, who drove from Ottawa), Animatch raised close to $14,000.00. A huge “thank you” to all who helped make this happen. The money will be put to great use—a great portion of it will be used offset veterinary expenses which in previous years have been close to $70,000.
Thanks to our very own Photographer, Gary Houghton, you can follow the link to photos of a very enjoyable evening.

As promised, I’m posting a couple of pictures of Theo with his new “do”. Definitely didn’t want him shaved down too short, since we love him looking manageably scruffy. I’ll post two so that Lily and Debbie get a good view! ![]()
His stitches came out, he’s eating SO well, drinking lots of water and prancing along during our walks. Wakes me up if he needs to pee during the night, so needless to say, we are delighted.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Happy belated birthday to the Schnauzer puppies! It’s hard to believe they are 4 years old! And a big hug to their mom Lucy!
This is a picture of Sophie (in the middle) with her 2 sisters. They are all rescue dogs. Daisy is a Corgi mix and Mabel is a Husky mix.
Sophie recently earned her Masters Agility Dog of Canada (MADC) title! We all love her to bits! Thanks, Animatch.
Lexus has defied all the odds and celebrates fifteen wonderful years today. In spite of being arthritic and totally blind, she manages to get around by following walls and somehow finds her way around the yard. She hears very little but barks at things that are not there. Incontinence is a problem, but she does her best to tell me even if it is after the fact. How can you fault that? I hope I do as well when I am 105. Here are her birthday photos. We had to wake her to give her her birthday bone. Enjoying the bone and then posing for photos was exhausting, and she went straight back to sleep! Happy Birthday, sweet girl.
Our newest pride and joy, Theo!
This adorable little guy had a short stay at Animatch, under the name “Polar”. He’s only 7 months old, so quite a departure from our older dogs. He’s won us over in record time and has bonded instantly with our daughter. I promise to post updated pics, once Theo has been to the groomer. In the meantime, thank you, thank you, thank you to the incredible Animatch Team.
While Marley can never be replaced, bringing Theo home has filled the house just a little more.
Take care all and I’ll post an update in the coming days.
Darlene
Seems absolutely impossible that it has been two years already that you picked us to be your furever family. Don’t know what we did so right in life to be blessed with such a beautiful gift but we are thankful for your presence in our lives every day.
You had huge paws to fill as our previous furkids had only been sent to the Bridge five weeks earlier. You were so loving and trusting from the get go. You adapted to the new adventure of walking in the woods with so much excitement. You lost 40 of your 110lbs in just six months.
Today, even with your knee brace for a partial ACL tear, you still romp through the woods like a puppy.
Zoey, we love your zest for life, your desire for soft head pets while watching TV and your sweetness of everyone you meet.
Can’t imagine life without you…Zoey, you are a blessing to be thankful for every day and we are xoxo
It’s been a while since we’ve updated everyone on Mimmi! She’s such a joy to our family and Mimmi has recently turned 2! Mimmi enjoys early morning walks to the park where she meets all of her doggie friends to play with. She also loves her treats! Mimmi has adapted to our family amazingly well and always joins us on drives to visit her grandparents who spoil her to death. Her grandpa referes to her as his “grandog”. Thank you Animatch for making doggie dreams come true!
Hi all! It’s been a few days since Lucy came home… and it’s been pretty hectic since Sunday LOL She and Charlie have been going concerns, playing and chasing and learning to sort out who gets which toys and when!
It’s just awesome to see Charlie so active and Lucy absolutely keeps up the pace. It’ll be fun to see how they play when her cone is off and her staples are gone (can’t wait for April 2nd!!).
In the meantime, she’s discovered the cone can be an advantage - she will grab a toy or sock and pull it into the cone and then she pushes it against the back of the couch so Charlie can’t get inside LOL She is definitely a smart girl! They make me laugh because they really do remind me of Lucy and Charlie Brown - her name won’t be changed because it was meant to be ![]()
Today, for the first time, they’ve started cuddling together… and I couldn’t be more excited! As you can see in this photo, Charlie was laying on the chair under Lucy’s blanket. She hopped right up and laid down with him like she’s been doing it forever. He stuck his nose into the cone and licked her ear. I was so glad I had my camera nearby!
Thank you so much, as always, to Helen, Joanne, Sherri and all the hardworking volunteers. Lucy is a real little gem and I am grateful.
FOR OUR WALK-A-THON. Please mail your entries to Animatch, c/o Maria John, CP du Grand Blvd, CPP 25003, Ile Perrot, QC J7V 9T1. Attend the WAT and see your photo posted on our success wall!
Soft bed, delicious rawhide bone, good company ... what more can a dog ask for! I’m livin’ the life.
Bamboo
Bamboo was adopted in July of last year and my wife and I are pleased to say that all of the concerns about his behavior have not materialized. He was on Reconcile (Separation Anxiety Syndrome) when he arrived and within a few months he was weaned of the medication and we are pleased to report that we have experienced no destructive behavior when we leave him alone. I am sure that his new “big sister” Mollie has a calming affect which helps. He loves car rides, is sociable with neighbors and other dogs on the street and in the woods. We walk every day for an hour or so, sometimes much longer in the summer time. Last summer I noticed that he is adverse to water i.e. the sprinkler and water holes and streams on the trail. Where Mollie will climb right into the stream and lie down, he will take a drink but makes sure his paws do not touch the water. The first time we went for a walk in the rain, Mollie and I were down the street and Bamboo was no where to be found. Checking on his whereabouts, I found him under a tree in the yard with his head down shrinking from the rain. He now has no concern about the rain and his favorite time is the towel rub down after the walk, although he still will not go into the stream to cool off. However, he is not the perfect dog. He in fact is a bit of a chow hound and gets very excited and whines when he thinks it is his supper time and there is no one in the kitchen preparing his dinner. We have banned him from the kitchen at this time, much to his dismay. At the end of the day, he reminds me that it is bed time and he is happy for me to lead him upstairs where he hops onto the bed and settles in the for night. While he does not where his heart on his sleeve, there are times when he wants a little TLC and he snuggles up to me (or runs up to me in his happy dance way on the trail wanting me to catch him or play tug of war with the leash) that shows us that he knows he is home and that he is loved.
thank you for Rex he is a member of this family and loved very much, enclosed are pics of him and his family (Rex has the white stripe up his chest)This big boy fit in within 3 weeks and i cannot see this family without him. Please adopt from Animatch and give them all the support you can ,once again look at the pictures and you will see a happy boy, thanks again Animatch.
Bonjour,
Frimousse xxx
Hello everyone!
This is Riley sending you New years best wishes from Chateauguay! I know, I know, I am a little late with the wishes, but it’s been a busy holiday season, with family, friends, cookies and lots of snow! My sister Chloe and I love playing in the circle in front of our house, and she even lets me catch the frisbee sometimes… sometimes.
I was even the star of this year’s Holiday greeting cards!! I love my new home and my new family and wish the best to my old friends at Animatch, but rest assured I am doing well.
Riley
PS: One of my furry neighbors is also an Animatch success story! Her name is Penny
Hi Helen! It’s hard to believe Belle has been with us for 12 years, and will be 14 in June. She decided that once she’d passed 13, she should be allowed on the living room sofa… here she is enjoying her favourite roost, unconcerned by the flute music underneath her. As you can see, she looks somewhat guilty when caught in the act, but that never stops her from hopping up again. The exception is if a person is already on the sofa - then she’ll politely wait for an invitation before joining them. ![]()
Love to all of the Animatch dogs and staff!
Kelly
Hey guys!!
Guess what! It’s been a full 3 years since I went to my forever home. I can’t believe how fast time flies! On the bright side, it’s WINTER! Ah, snow, my favorite thing! My little brother came for a visit and we all went running around the backyard in the fluffy stuff, so much fun!!
Thanks to all who came out and supported Animatch at Sunday’s Bark ‘n Brunch. Over $2,000 was raised and will be put to good use. Many of our former adoptees were present and that is always a treat for Volunteers to see the dogs with their families. Thanks to all the Volunteers who made this happen. Special thanks to Gary Houghton, our awesome photographer, who captured the day in photos. To see more of Gary’s photos, please go to:

And the winner is ................. Annie Monette of Rosemere. Annie was present at the Annual Bark ‘n Brunch to collect her prize. She is proud guardian to Eliot (Doum Doum), adopted from Animatch in 2010. Annie is a strong supporter of Animatch and she and Eliot are always present at the Bark ‘n Brunch. Look forward to seeing the portrait.
Many thanks to Sara Ann Scullion for this donation.
I adopted Henri (Henry) more than a year and half ago. He is moving to France along with family and his siter Bailey. He is going to be very happy there, a big yard close to the woods, no snow, mild winter and walks on the beach. I am thrilled to see Henri’s reaction to the ocean, after all he has never seen the sea !
Win a beautiful 16 x 20 custom pet potrait, in oil on gallery canvas by Sara Ann Scullion. Ticket are $2 each or 3 for $5 and are available at Mon Ami, 100 du Barry, Kirkland, Pitou Minou Pointe Claire Plaza and at all Animatch Meet & Greets. The drawing will be held at Bark & Brunch, February 10th.
Greetings & Happy New Year!
My name is Patrick and I am the proud papa to two Animatch adoptees; Rhapsody and Kismet. We send best wishes to Helen, Joanne, Sherri, Lori, Mike and Yolande and all the tireless volunteers at Animatch for a very Happy New Year!
Rhapsody is a 10 year old Miniature Poodle who we now call “Lily”, as that was the name given by her Animatch foster family.
I adopted Lily just before Christmas. Lily shares her new forever home with Kismet, my gorgeous Bouvier des Flandres that I adopted from Animatch at Christmas in 2009! They both share me with Charlie, who was adopted from another organization and is a Miniature Poodle/Maltese cross. So I have three wonderful, unique personalities in my care and I could not be happier.
It’s been a month since we brought Lily home and she is doing fabulous! Lily is quite the personality and a little Diva used to receiving all the attention of her humans and she has had to learn that there is an even bigger Diva already on the throne, both in personality and stature name Kizzy! The girls worked it out and the pecking order is now in place and everyone knows their place and I still cannot get over how fast dogs adapt. They just do.
Lily is now toilet trained and crate trained and resides at night in my room with Kismet and Charlie. Lily loves exploring our house and expansive backyard, curious as to what I am doing in my crafting rooms with all it’s yarn and fabric. She is in very good health and very, very spry for a ten year old and can jump and run like the wind! She enjoys her many daily walks, so excited to go to the off-leash parks we visit and loves riding in the car but is still not sure about having to wear her seatbelt. She has the comfort of two other laps to sit and cuddle in when ever she wants and as I type this she is laying on my lap with her head on my arm, snoozing away.
Please know that Miss Kismet is doing great as ever. Our girl turns 5 this year! Kizzy has been very generous in welcoming Lily into the house and of her sharing me with yet another dog. My Bouvier des Flandres is in great health as well, all dogs just had their exams and she get’s plenty of daily exercise and affection. You should see her gorgeous long hair on her head! Such a beauty! Kismet really sets the routine of my day and especially in this cold weather, it’s nothing for her to be outside and so she keeps me very active in our daily romps to various off-leash parks where she can run and frolic and hunt squirrels. Her favourite activity!
I love both Kizzy and Lily so much, they are a wonderful constant throughout my day and I will continue to support Animatch in any way I can. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. Take very good care. Patrick.
We are very sad to say that Matlock passed away on January 16th, 2013. We are all heartbroken and will miss him very much. He was happy and healthy until a week ago when he had trouble walking. He spent the night at the vet but his back legs became completely paralysed. We gave him his meds and took all the care we could but he did not make it and died peacefully during the night. We still do not know what really happened to him, we just know that we are very sad right now…...he was only 3-4 years old.
We adopted Matlock from Animatch in July 2010, he was an abandonned stray. When we got him he was skinny and shaved and pretty nervous, but he quickly became a very loved member of our family. His fur grew in and he got stronger day by day…. He loved to go for walks and play with his little toys. We had lots of fun with him; our 2 boys adored him, as did we!
We still cannot believe that he is gone….. thank you for giving us the opportunity to know and love him
2013 Success Stories
Here are our 2013 success stories:
I’m KC…the good little Diggy Dog who does naughty things. I used to live in a shelter and like all the Diggy Dogs, I dreamed of being adopted. Then one day, Mommy and Daddy came to Animatch Adoption shelter and picked me out of all the other Diggy Dogs. I was so happy to be going home to begin my new adventures. My lovable, curious and adventurous nature often gets me into naughty situations. You can read all about my adventure in my new book ‘‘KC..The good Little Diggy Dog Who Does naughty Things…is going home.’’ My book is about adoption and unconditional love. You can buy my book at www.friesenpress.com/bookstore/browse/JUV000000/Juvenile%20Fiction my web site is www.kcthediggydog.com
KC was adopted in January 2007; he was 7 months old. Congratulations, KC. I am sure that you are the one and only Animatch dog that has their very own book. I think lots of kids would love to read your story.
Don’t we look beautiful after our trip to the spa? After surviving a severe autoimmune disease four years ago, my amazing Lexus is nearly 15. (Cayenne from the Spicy litter) is already 1 1/2, and the cuddliest lap dog ever. Happy New Year and much thanks to the volunteers at Animatch, and to Debbie for choosing this sweetheart of a puppy for me.
Just a quick note to wish you all the best in 2013, and great families for all the furbuds who will find themselves into your capable and caring hands. Big kiss!
Morgane Pendragon and my friend Ratounet
PS. Kiwi Crumpet and Ludwig van Katt say hi too.
Hi to all my Animatch friends,
Here’s a recent pic of our three Girlz: Zoey, (Golden Retriever /Great Pyr mix, Millie and Penny Delight both Dachshund / Terrier mixes. Who really knows??? And what does it matter? They are each lovable, funny, naughty and stubborn, but over-the-top adorable in their own way. They are the sunshine of our lives, and once again, we thank you Animatch for helping us find, not one, not two, but three Perfect Matches! ~Life is Good with Doggies~
It is with profound and unbearable sadness that I share the fact that we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our wonderful little Marley today.
Without going into all the awful details, it seems that Marley suffered a severe pancreatic attack and coupled with the fact that she was diagnosed as diabetic, the prognosis was grim. The vet explained that IF they managed to successfully treat Marley this time, in all likelihood she would suffer from future attacks - each of which would cause her considerable pain.
Knowing the difficult life this little treasure had already lived, I couldn’t bring myself to putting her through even more tests, treatments, pain and yet more of her days lived in a cage.
I hope you can all understand that our decision was taken only out of love and caring for Marley. We will miss her terribly, as she was cherished by our family and everyone who came to our home just adored her. There’s a very big hole in my heart, but I thank Animatch for giving us the all-too-brief years of happiness we did have with Marley.
Darlene
Happy New Year to all my furbuddies.
What a year this has been for me.. If I had to tell you all I experienced since Helen took a roadtrip and brought me to Mom !!! Well, we’d be here all nite. What I want to say is I am so thankfull to have Mom and Dad as people parents. Mom read a comment made by Auntie Joanne that said I was free now from my cage, free to be a real doggie .... that is exactly what I’ve been doing !!! Mom calls me her No No Girl and Dad calls me his Wild Girl ... they have been patient with me, they have showered me with so much love that each nite, when I go to bed, I make one big sigh and whisper ” Thank You ” to the Angel that brought me to Animatch, then I snuggle close to Mom and fall asleep.
To my furfriends waiting for their family, be patient your family is out there - it’s just a matter of time then you too can experience this thing called: ” being part of a family “.
Mom took this picture of me and Dad .... everyone ( and I mean everyone all 28 of them) had left after New Year’s Supper at our house… does it show that we were ready for some quiet time. Yes, imagine ” moi ” on quiet time lol…Kody was already sound asleep in the living room next to the fireplace.. Belle was snooring away in her little house in the living room but I needed my cuddle time with Dad. I love this thing called THE HOLIDAYS ( even though we all were very tired afterwards.)
Congratulations to Sue Deis, the winner of the raffle for $500 in Metro gift cards. We’re sure they came in handy over the holidays!
A big thanks to all those who supported Animatch.
Zoey and Raggzy here. This is our second Christmas with our furever family and let’s just say life is still sooooooooo good. For all the hopeful adoptees, it’s worth the wait. Don’t despair. Once you get your furever family you forget everythig that happened before and just learn to live life with love and warmth and food and gentle pets on the couch.
All the best in 2013 for all the adoptees…past and present!!!!
Merry Christmas to everyone at Animatch. I wish that all the pups can find their forever homes like I did last year. (Adopted last September, formally know as Harry).
Thank you to everyone for making me the happiest pup in the whole world. My Mom and Dad say that not a day goes by without me making them smile and laugh.
Pees on earth and good will towards all. (lol)
Love Wally
Hi everyone! It’s me… Charlie (aka Waggit, for those of you who remember my constantly wagging tail!). I just wanted to check in and tell you I’m doing great. Mommy tells me all the time that I’m such a good boy… even when she is working in her office late at night and I crawl out from under my blanket, wanting to get up on her lap. She never says no and I always get cuddles
Wishing everyone at Animatch a very happy holiday season and hoping for lots of loving, FOREVER homes for many beautiful souls in the New Year! xo
Well another happy year has passed in Chateauguy, I am now looking forward to my 5th Christmas here and hoping for snow. I first discovered snow when staying at
Animatch and have loved it ever since. We have small amount in back yard and
Timmie the smallest cat and I roll on our backs and slide now the slight incline, great
fun. Winter is also best time for car rides and shopping trips with my sister Geisha,
the past 2 years have been better for walking now I have another dog to share smells with. So to all my friends at Animatch wish you a happy Christmas and hope
you like me find a new safe home for the holidays. love Winnie
I know that Cassie has only been with us here at home for less than a week but she has made wonderful progress. She came home with us last Saturday. Her house training is coming along at an amazing rate. No accidents in the house today. Bosco and Cassie were left in the house for 4 hours today while I went shopping. No accidents occurred. Maybe I’m speaking too soon but I’m very encouraged. Cassie is still afraid of people. She’s not backing off like before but she sticks to me like glue. She’s more afraid of men. Cassie and Bosco are starting to walk better together. They repect each other’s sniff time while on the tour. They wait for each other. It’s nice to see. Cassie has also found her voice. She barks if the neighbours get too loud. She gets Bosco going as well. It’s not a bad thing. The dogs also repect each other’s sleeping arrangements. Cassie either sleeps on the floor in my room or she sleeps on a padded blanket in front of the fireplace. Bosco takes over the sofa or sleeps on the cool tile in the small powder room. They’re both snoring in the livingroom right now. All this to say that Cassie has found herself a home. Thanks again Animatch.
Today marks one year that little Camy left our sides, to be with another rescue at Rainbow Bridge.
Not a day goes by that Daddy does miss his little girl… not a day goes by that I don’t remember all the little things you shared with our little man Kody. You entered our lives sweet little one and filled our hearts with pure Joy. You had the biggest and kindess heart in such a small body - you touched so many….moved so many to the reality of adopting at any age.
Remember Audrey, the special need little girl at the park - how I was afraid to tell her, that her little Camy was now a little angel dog. When the park opened in May, she ran to our site, wanting to hold you again.. instead, I gave her a picture of you and explained that you were now an angel.. her lips quivered - she looked at the sky, looked at your picture .. then she smiled and said to me: ” Now Camy can sleep with me at nite - Mom said that special angels sleeps with little girls like me to help them sleep thru the nite.” She left with your picture and a smile and I was left in tears. Yet again, sweet one, you touched that little girl and helped her accept what is part of life.
Daddy & Mummy has decided that each and every year on your anniversary, we will donate to Animatch, in your name, so that you can help your furfriends waiting like you did to find their family.
Sadly, Honesty’s frail and tired body gave up on her; she lost her fight. We will focus on her puppies and getting them the homes that they deserve. It’s the least we can do for her. R.I.P.
Life has been rough for Honesty—everyday has been a struggle. She was recently dumped at the pound along with her four pups. Emaciated, dehydrated, and with infection throughout her body, she was rushed to the Lasalle Veterinary Hospital where she is fighting for her life. She has managed to care for her four puppies – an act of love for her. Happy endings are what keep us going through frustration and despair, and our sincere hope is that there will be a happy ending for Honesty. We are optimistic that time and medical attention will heal her body because her spirit remains unbroken; our wish is that she wins this difficult battle. It is despicable that a human would leave a dog in this condition; we pray that we have the chance to prove to her that most humans only want to help. Honesty is a dog that deserves our help.

I was surprised to day by the arrival of my new grand-dog, Cooper, a rescue dog, who, at 4 months, has already had 3 previous owners. No wonder he pees when you greet him! I’d be nervous, too, if I’d been passed around like that. Isn’t he gorgeous? Gracie was delighted to have someone who wanted to play. Lexus pretty much slept through the visit!

Charm arrived at the Centre not long ago with a serious fracture in her hind leg. As you can see from the x-rays, her leg was in very bad shape. Thanks to Dr. Plasse who always rises to an orthopedic challenge Charm will go on to live a happy, normal, pain-free life. We thanks all our Animatch supporters who seem to always come through for us in order that we continue our work. We hope that everyone will continue to donate or attend our fundraising events. In 2013, we will have our Bark ‘n Brunch, Pasta for Pups, Walk-a-thon, etc. Please come out and show your support. Animatch is also putting out their first Calendar for 2013 (great Christmas gifts). Thank you for all your past generosity but in order to continue being able to rescue dogs like Charm, we are counting on your in the future.
Oslo just turned three years old this week. I can now say he is an accomplished athlete. He has more endurance and strenght, and he is also capable of working with me a lot longer than before, and he has fun doing so. We’re making progresses in agility and freestyle. Last weekend we were at the Salon national des animaux de compagnie in Montreal, and we did some agility and some freestyle. I was very happy with the way he handled the pressure, the crowd, the noise and everything. I was very, very pround of him. Here are two videos. The first one is agility and the second one freestyle.

Thank you so much again for all what you do for the dogs. It takes a lot of courage, and strenght, and dedication. I will never be able to thank you enough for letting me adopt Oslo.
Today ,it’s been 2 years this wonderfull dog is in my life,I’m so blessed and happy.
Our first days together was special ,he was so reserve and well maners!! When I put him in my bed he look at me so funny, same for the sofa! Like are you sure??The only rules was (WAIT) to get in and out to make sure he don’t put his back at risk! He LOVE having the perfect excuses to be in my arms! But it took 3 weeks to have a connection…after all I was with the same dog for 11 years before him,it was not compare the dog but more a shock to realize that a connection is actually something you build with your animal…3 weeks was an eternity for me I was overwhelm with love and cuddles ...the look in his face ...for our first kiss…like what the %%??? you do….NOW he presente he’s cute face and whant more!
Again not a day pass by that I don’t PASS the word don’t buy ADOPT and MY DOG is AN ANIMATCH DOG! PS: His hernia is much better, still on med,and lazer treatements and going acupuncture on 20th.Yesterday he lift he’s paw a little bit to pee…!!!Still bed rest 2 months for sure but his happyness level is GOOD!!Thank’s you all for best wishes!
Lolita needs your help. She is an engaging, two-year-old, Pug, who has experienced a few setbacks in her short life. She was adopted from AMR and then returned because of a hip problem. Animatch felt that we should to reach out and help this deserving dog. Lolita has a form of hip dysplasia and this caused pain. With the help of Dr. Plasse who is always up for orthopedic surgery and his team, Lolita underwent an operation. The surgery involved removing the ball of her femur; her reconstructed hip allow her to live her life as a normal dog without pain. Helping Lolita comes with a cost and we rely on your donations.
Animatch has always appreciated supporters who have contributed their hard earned money. Your generosity has allowed Animatch to continue our mission of making significant improvements in the lives of dogs like Lolita. The need is always great, the cause is worthy, and we keep on reaching out for your financial support. Without it, Animatch’s work would not be possible and the future would be bleak for all the Lolita’s of this world.
Here it is, the annual Halloween photo! This year we have a new little bugger that joined the pack! Doesn’t he fit right in?! Love my little monkeys!

Hey Animatch!
First it was just me, Nellie. Then mom & dad figured I could use some company. So along came Mia in March of this year. Well now I gues they figured we had a little more room in our hearts (and our home), so we just welcomed Mozart. Just like Mia, he came all the way from Quebec city. At 2, he’s much younger than me & Mia, but he sure is bigger! And I think he has a little puppy love for me! Now our house is full and mom & dad say they are SO HAPPY!
Animatch friends, on november 8 th Doum Doum will be part of me for 2 years, not a day pass by being bless to have this dog with me ...Sadly right now we need your prayers or good thoughts, Doum Doum a 6 years old Teckel had a 2 nd episode of back pain this time ,the back paws don’t react so much…don’t look good. Before him Marguerite 11 years pass the last 3 years of her life on treatement for hernia…Doum Doum he’s right now the same level of the last call of Marguerite not that we can compare pain, experience ..but in the same kind of problems…future not to bright…The only thing that really matters is that he don’t suffer…today can’t walk but seem relax and happy, want to eat, chase fly and eat a beef pizzle…Hope for the best ...tomorrow lazer treatement and cortizone injection… The personne that left him at Animatch make him be sitting on his ass….what a freaking stupid idea…so if you see someone do that please tell what the consequences could be…Annie /Doum Doum mom’s
Hello to all my friends at Animatch~
I have recently become the proud owner of my very own forever family! It’s been a little over one week since I’ve become the Little Princess of my Castle. Mommy is the Queen!!! My new family has many members. At first, some of them liked me better than others. My young cat sister spent three days hiding in the basement!! Can you believe it?...WHO on earth would want to get away from MOI??? I have been “put in my place” a few times by the others~ Between the hisses, growls, swipes and nips, I was starting to wonder: “Was it something I said???” I think that I am wiggling my way into their good graces though, so long as I don’t become super annoying, that is!
I have to thank the King of the house, Daddy, ‘cause he’s THE ONE who ultimately let me come live here! He thinks that Mommy is “CRAZY”, whatever that means! I know that he likes me alot though…‘cause he says I’m so cute and I make him laugh, too! He really liked it when Mommy was in the food pantry and I stole a BIG turnip from the bottom shelf and ran away with it!
I am a little ray of sunshine in my new home and my new family is very blessed to have me be a part of it,(so I’m told!)
Until next time, little wet kisses and nibbles from me, Penny Delight~
It has been awhile since I asked Mom to write. Sassy had enough to say for both of us - man can that sister of mine talk !!! Our people parents took us on vacation quite a lot this summer - we even visited Animatch on our way to Toronto. I must apologize to Joanne and Helen for my behavior, I had a flashback of the first time I went to visit Animatch , hope you guys understand that I liked the volunteers but I just don’t want to leave my Mom’s arms, I have grown to love being in them and don’t want to be seperated from their comfort.
I want to share this picture of us as we boarded the Ferry to cross from Riv. du Loup to St-Simeon on our way to visit our family, in Bagotville. We were sitting with Dad when a woman came out of the door… As soon as she saw us, she said, ” OH MY GOD.. what beautiful little dogs!!” We almost had a heart attack, even Dad , she came at us with both hands stretch out… my sister told her off - being the little gentleman that I am, I just sat closer to Dad but not my sister !!! She showed her teeth, growed and made quite the ruckus but that’s her way of saying ” I am not going anywhere except with my family, don’t touch me nor my brother “.
Now, I am explaining to Sassy that the cold ( she doesn’t like it ) will only get worse, and with the cold comes snow. I am so anxious to see her try to run in the snow especially when we have big drifts haha.. that will slow her down. My sister, was all mouth when Mom lit the fireplace - the angle her head one way then the other watching the flames lick at the glass window - then the heat came, how I love to snuggle in my daybed and let the warm heat caress me to sleep. I told Sas, just climb in next to me you’ll see how sleepy this will make you. Finally, she stopped barking at the fire and we fell asleep until Mom carried us both upstairs to bed… I love snuggling ... thank you Animatch for finding my people parents.. it has been a great year for me and thanks for finding my sister… she’s a handfull but I love her too.
Hi everyone:),
this is milo ( aka jingles ) and i just turned one!
i have been with my new family for 10 months now ( i got adopted on my 2 month birthday ) and i think i am going to keep them:). i have a big dog sister named sushi, who has decided to love me and three people siblings who play with me all the time.
they tell me that i am the softest dog they have ever had…and i am pretty sure my dad has told people that i am the absolute best dog he has ever had ( just do not tell sushi ). my mom’s feet is where i like to lie all the time, wherever she is and i think she likes that a lot.
everyone still gets excited when they see my eyes ( one blue, one brown) for the first time, but i don’t like it when people call my eyes *creepy* - a dog has feelings you know!
just checking in to say thank you animatch for letting me go home with these people. it has been a great first year:).
your friend,
milo
(and no, i am not usually allowed on the couches…but every once in awhile i sneak up:))
Over Thanksgiving weekend, we visited CFB Bagotville where my people brother is stationned. In order to get there we had to take a Ferry !!! Wow, I love Ferry rides an awful lot. Kody and I ( Belle couldn’t come because of her heart ) were a bit scared at first… lots of noise .. lots of people ... then, Mom and Dad took us outside ... Guess What !!! Water !!! Lots and lots and lots of water - I wiggled and wiggled but there is no way Mom was letting go of me..I just wanted to go check how much water was on the side ... geez Mom I didn’t want to jump in !! Then, the Ferry moved awesome, the wind blew in our faces - Kody and I met lots of nice people who said we were both beautiful and spoiled ( that woman doesn’t know how spoiled we both are !!)
Mom took a picture of me and my friend sitting in an F-15 ... they make noise - I can’t figure it out though, I see the plane - no noise then a few seconds afterwards, there is a weird sound but no plane? I listened to all of the instructions given - I was ready to take off but my friend wouldn’t let me handle the joystick… ” let me go - I can do this - listen bud, the first astronault was a dog, not a human - give me the stick - where is that eject button !”
Mom and Dad told us that this little vacation was our last until this stuff called ” snow ” comes and melts away - so why does it come if it will melt away ? I like going on vacation - I had lots of new experiences this year, Mom made a fire in the fireplace this evening, never saw fire before but I’ve got to tell you it makes you real sleepy…
A huge thank you to Animatch!! Well I (Faith - original Animatch name), one of the litter of Aussie pups from Oct 2011, am one years old. I am having a blast with my new family. There was a few tense moments early in my life but I am in great shape and healthy. I thoroughly enjoy walking and running in the forest behind my house. Jessica and John Jr are taking really good care of me. I love being fussed over but I give back so much more!!
Hello everyone! Nellie & Mia here. We had so much fun at Newfstock! The folks are Newf Friends rescue in Ontario spread the word, and it’s amazing how many other newfs showed up! We were very good during the 5 hour car ride, too!
Mia actually competed and won her round of “bobbing for weiners”! Go figure!
It was really fun to see over 100 newfs just like us, but yet we were all different!
It was a day filled with fun, love and DROOL.
Here’s a picture of the two of us.
Hello Animatch crew, Mac here!
It’s been a little over 2 months since my mom adopted my little brother ... it’s taken me a little time to adjust but now I love the litter bugger! I have some bad news though, mom tells me that Archie isn’t doing too well. He has been back and forth to the vet many times in the last 2 months and they still aren’t sure what’s wrong. He is scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow because they are suspecting cancer :( Now I haven’t known my little brother for very long but I really like him, so could you all send positive vibes his way? I really want to take him camping with me, so I need to him to stay healthy! Last time Archie came to visit me I got spoiled and mom let us both sleep on the bed with her (something we don’t normally get to do). We also got to roast some marshmallows by the campfire
Backyard campfires will have to do for now until we can get little Archie up in the mountains. Ohhh, I can’t wait!!
Positive thoughts for the little guy, please!
I’m going back to chewing my Nylabone ![]()

Here is our boy Buddy (formerly Bee). Buddy is settling in very well, he loves his frequent walks, is very accepting of cats, and is convinced that every tree in town contains at least one squirrel. He will be attending obedience school this fall to help with a couple of issues, particularly play nipping and his wild exuberance when he meets another dog. He unfortunately looks on all dogs as rough house playmates and jumps on them mercilessly while barking in their faces. Not everyone appreciates his enthusiasm! He is a very smart little fellow and I have no doubt he will learn some manners without trouble. As you can see, he looks good in his summer haircut. He is a happy puppy and is loved very much. Many thanks to Animatch for their wonderful work, and especially to Helen for rescuing Bee. He is now our good Buddy.
Man did I ever ever enjoy my Summer,we went on vacation a few times, I jumped in my pool as often as I wanted to, rolled in water puddles ( Mom said they were mud puddles - if it has water in it, it’s a water puddle Mom ) rolled in the sand - earth - grass. So much so that Mom had to bath me often - I ended with a small reaction to the conditionner which freaked Mom out Big Time.
Being easy to freak out, Mom called the Vets who told her to cut my hair ( OMG) then bring me in ... I gave them a hard time, showed them my teeth and gave them a piece of my mind.. they were responsible for this new look after all!!!
Grand Maman and Dad say they love my new look, they say it makes me look more devilish ... Mom says that can’t be possible !!! Maybe I’ll prove Grand Maman and Dad right - wouldn’t Mom be surprised again !!! Well Aunties what do you think - just look into my beautiful eyes, don’t I look like a little Angel ??? Okay, I know Mom sent pictures of me when I was chasing that grasshopper - she’s a taddletale that one !!
Kody, Belle and I were at the campground today, Mom and Dad were closing our trailer, because they say winter will be upon us shortly. Kody says he doesn’t like Winter that’s when there is snow - some times after a snowfall, he can’t see where he’s going. Man, I am anxious for all of that white stuff - the way he describes !!!! Wow , it should be fun, a new experience for me ... you guys will have to wait for my reaction and comments ... I am sure to have lots and lots of fun in that stuff… wonder if it makes my hair dirty ????
Molley and Shantel where adopted at the same time Soyha was, they went to Soyha’s grandma. The two little girls had a very rough start in their new home. They both got kennel cough and Molley had a very hard time (over 2 months) before she got a clean bill of heath. Both girls where small 6 & 8 lbs, but both are in good shape at 8 & 10 lbs. They have bonded very much to their mother and look for her when she goes out. The two girls are very good and very muched loved.
The two girls where a gift to my mother from my wife and I. They helped my mother get over a rough period and she loves them as much as they love her.
Thank you again to animacth from Dan & Kim
To all my freinds at Animatch, thank you from Soyha. I’ve been with my new family for a whole year. I’ve learned that I can be loved, and love my family very much. I’ve learned so much in my time with my family. I’m here and I’m staying. Now my mommy and daddy have something to say.
We would like to thank all the people that helped Soyha come to us. Soyha has been a wonderful and joyful dog to have. Soyha was a lot of work, but all that work has been well worth our efforts. Soyha, brother (copper) and, old sister (sugar) enjoy playing with her ever day (things didn’t alwalys go smoothly, but things are good now). Soyha is a big girl and has become the family protector, she is very loyal, and very aware of everything that happens around her and her family. When we got Soyha see looked like a lost little puppy that had lost everthing, but now when you see her, she’s always happy and always has a smile on her face.
Soyha has a forever home with us and she is every part of our family.
Thank you again for helping make this happen.
Dan & Kim
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update on Chica, Zeus and Cannon. Our newest addition Cannon is loving his home and his buddies! He’s off to training in October to learn his basic commands as he’s super stubborn but we love our little man.
Chica is doing very well! She’s enjoying her new little brother even when he barks at her to play when she’s sleeping
and Zeus, well Zeus is just happy that he is no longer being bothered to play by Chica. He’s happy spending his days sleeping on our bed (as you can see).
A huge thanks to everyone at Animatch for our little family!
Jenny & Carl
Happy in the forest ...

Look how sweet he is…
Dear Animatch friends,
I’m writing to you today to celebrate our second anniversary together Yukon and I. I’ve adopted him 2 years ago already and it is still dream paradise between us. Yukon is an exceptional dog. He is so kind, calm, gentle and sweet; everyone is amazed, starting with me. The bond is so tight now that we understand each other without any words. BébéSoleil is the perfect dog for me. We still run every morning and take a walk every night in the forest. The morning run is for mom so there is very little sniffing but we both know the evening walk is coming later for the sniffing around. Yukon has done a great deal of learning during this past year. He now know how to behave with other dogs and he is just perfect, he has also learned to come back eventually even if there are squirrels around, which is quite something. He is the most amazing dog with little children; I can’t believe how smart this dog is. He understands without a word that he needs to be calm and soft with the little humans. Only thing still to improve is the jumping on people arriving at home and this is mom not being able to stop the happiness. Yukon is the perfect companion for me. We are both crazy in love. I feel so grateful to have him in my life every day. I can’t thank you enough Animatch for keeping him before me and letting him go with me. He is my little ‘chou à la crème brulée’. Big hugs to you.
Chers amis animatch,
A year ago today, we had the opportunity of adopting our little man ” Kody “. I hope that we brought him has much happiness as he did to us. We love this little munchkin to no ends and we are confident that he returns our love tenfolds.
It was a great year for little Kody with lots and lots of new experiences. He is our pride and joy… Kody is such a sweet little man - he loves his squeaky toys BIG TIME our living room looks like a little tornado hit it - his greatest pleasure is being with people, he simply adores being next to you, adores to cuddle and snuggle with you at nite - he will follow you and if you walk too fast in the house, he will make little sounds like he’s saying ” Mum remember I’ve got short little legs - slow down ”
If I could speak with his previous owners, I would say ” Thank You ” for bringing him to Animatch - we are so so grateful to you.
Helen, Joanne P., Sherri and the many volunteers, our family is eternally grateful for all you do for the needy furbabies and the adoptive families. Cannot say how much we appreciate your trusting our family with the lives of our adopted furbabies. ( Camy - Kody and Sassy ) THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH
Sophie is one of the Schnauzer puppies born at Animatch in March 2003. I wanted a good agility dog, and boy did I pick the right puppy! Sophie is competing at the Masters level, except for those darn Gamblers…
Here we are getting ready to start a run.
Thanks to everyone at Animatch, especially Sophie’s mom Lucy (Extra).

You guys all know about how our No No Girl, Sassy can and will get herself into all kinds of situation. Just look at this face, who on earth cannot but love that one to pieces…. no no’s and all.
Sassy has been chasing a grasshopper now for most of this week. She finally cornered him behind my flower planter…. needless to say, I use to have a planter and flowers in there !!!! It has been rainning daily for almost two weeks, thus the earth is very very wet….when the grasshopper tried to hide, my girl dug her way under the planter…. patio was full of earth - Sassy full or earth - Kody hightailing it out of the flying debris…. all of this and yes, she didn’t get that awful awful grasshopper. She did have fun though and will get herself into another mess again. Our neighbor’s at the Park are very entertained by my girl, like they say ” Never a dull moment with that one hein Lily “! We never knew how boring our lives were before our No No Girl arrived. We simply adore her !!!!
Our precious Mac now has a little brother! Meet Archie, a 7 year old spaniel/beagle mix (or so we guess).
Mac thinks we adopted a little toy just for him. He wants to play and play and play and play some more! Archie is learning how to deal with all of this energy, for the most part he sleeps, or maybe he’s trying to play dead
We are looking forward to taking the duo camping when it’s a little cooler outside. Mac is ready to teach Archie the art of sleeping in a tent at night, hiking the trails during the day and most importantly, sneaking some marshmallows right off of the stick!
We brought Rico home in February 2012 and I have to say, what a wonderful decision we made. He had adjust well to our family and he gets along very well with our 8yr old Shih-Tzu, Sam. He is so quiet… staring up at us with his big brown eyes and following us everyone. He sleeps with us every night and loves to be snuggled like a teddy bear. We’re still working on house training and we’re almost there. I love him so, so much. Thank you to everyone who brought him to us and thank you for everything you do. We (and the doggies) love you!
Kody here, while on vacation in Toronto, Uncle took this picture of me DayDreaming. I liked my visit with Lola, so did Sassy but man did we ever miss HOME, and the freedom we have there. Mom and Dad said City living is not for everyone and I do agree with her and for once, Sassy was in agreement with me.
We are leaving again on Friday but this time, we are heading for the trailer - I simply love it there ( I made a deal with Mom, if she puts an harness on and not my colar, I will walk with her wherever she wants to go, was she ever happy ) Our trailer has a little fence and we are free to roam and run ( Sassy jumped the fence but Mom said. ” Sassy if you do this again, you will need to be tied and Sassy doesn’t like that so, she listens to Mom.!!)
We will be going to the beach even though we have our own little puppy pool at the trailer - I am anxious to see if Sass will try the waves… she tries everything of course she’s a head taller than I am ...show off.. I can still playfight with you and win, Mom has it on video as proof ....
To all my furfriends waiting for their family , hope you find a family like ours and enjoy cuddles - kisses - and lots of loving… it makes us feel safe and all warm inside…. what a lovely feeling.
P.S. Sassy is getting the hang of this luving stuff ... she’ll even cuddle with Dad now even though she has one eye looking at Mom all the time… she is not sharing my hammock ‘cause she’s too big anyways…
Bye for now ..... Kody
Hi everyone,
Just a short word to say hello and send a new picture of Marley, fresh from the groomer. She’s still doing great and is a total cuddle-bug. She’s taken to sleeping on her back, with her head on my pillow - between my husband and I! The second picture is Marley and her “brother” Brady. They both look like they’re smiling, no? Happy to be fresh and light, with their summer haircuts.
Take care,
Darlene.
