Sheri, here she is now! Thank you again!

Hi everyone, this is Frank checking in – I went by the name Frank at Animatch and my owners think it’s the perfect name so I’m keeping it for good.  I’ve been at my new home for over a month now and so far so good. I have an old man friend here who comes from Animatch as well – his name was Cow Slipper when he was there but now goes by the name Kramer. Phew, that’s a lot easier for me to remember!
There’s even a cat here. I don’t remember ever being around cats so for the first few weeks I would follow him everywhere. Why doesn’t he bark? Why does he do his business in that box full of sand? Why doesn’t he come for walks with us? How does he move around the house so quietly? His name is Bumps and he enjoys playing with my ears and tail – that’s fine by me so long as we all get along. Bumps is a lot younger than me and has tons of energy so I tend to just lay back with Kramer and enjoy the sights and sounds.
I’ve been told I’ll be going to obedience courses next month to brush up on a few skills and to learn to not be so chatty when it’s feeding time. It seems I’m the only one talking their heads off when the food is being prepared. Don’t the other guys see what all the fuss is about!?! I’m looking forward to obedience though – I will prove to everyone that an old dog can learn new tricks!

Time to get back to napping… I can hear Kramer snoring away and my bed is calling me.

Oh, one more important thing before I go: I owe a big thanks to everyone at Animatch for giving me a second chance at life (a good life, rather). I now believe in a future full of walks, food, belly rubs, toys and a warm bed, not to mention my 2 furry friends, Kramer & Bumps! This whole experience has instilled new faith in humanity, thank you Animatch people.

Bye for now! See you all at the Bark n Brunch!

Hi Animatch People I am Bella now.  At Animatch I was Flora, but Jame.my new person, decided it wasn’t regal enough a name for me, so she did some research and decided on Queen Isabella—which quickly shortened to Bella.  I have a purple collar and leash.  We dodn’t need the leash much because we have a great back yard here, and we often go to visit Ma Tante who takes us (me and Ruby) for long walks in the fields near her house.  It took me a little while to settle in at Jane’s (three years ago!) because I thought I should be the only dog, and rule the roost.  But Ruby and I have worked that out, and I even am pleasant to the cat now. .  I still bark and challenge any dog that walks by our house, but I am pretty good at Ma Tante’s where there are always five or six other dogs.  We have discovered that I love babies.  Babies next door, going past the house, and even on TV!!  I wish I could tell Jane my story—where I came from before the pound in Montreal.  She asks me about it all the time.  Ruby and I went to dog camp in Vermront last autumn, and we did all kinds of fun things—I can run like the wind, and jump over hurdles, but I refuse to fetch anything.  After all, I am a Queen.  Ruby doesn’t fetch either, as she is a Princess, so if Jane wants something she has to fetch it herself.  .WE came on the website today and registered because Jane has a crazy hankering for another dog!!.  I’m not so sure about this, but Ruby woud probably go for it—she needs a younger dog who will play more.  I am not even sure we are allowed to have three dogs in a household.  Anyway—we’re checking it out.  I just want to thank you for taking care of me until Jane came along, and for helping her to settle me in.  I just love it here.  We all four of us—two dogs and one cat and one person—all sleep together on a very comfortable bed.  I live in the lap of ouxury, as a Queen should.  smile

Hi to all…...
About a year ago our family adopted Sam….he became an instant brother to an older sister recent adoptee, little Yorkie Charlotte….
Sam is great! He’s comical! Most of all we all enjoy him. He loves to snuggle and to have his tummy rubbed. He still is a bit of a barker….but that fits in with his job as home security guard…
He still eats voraciously….always looking to grab a bite of Charlotte’s food….however she watches him like a hawk…..a undertoned growl by Charlotte sends Sam away from her food.
He loves his walks….still a bit of a puller…but we can tire him out with long walks…then he walks normally…can’t wait to flop down on the floor.

Thank you for taking care of Sam in the months before we adopted him.

Hi everyone,

Thought this was too cute not to share.  Although Marley always looks so serious, she actually loves the snow!  She asks to be let outside more than ever.  Even when it’s NOT snowing, she comes in with a white face.  She actually rolls in the snow in the backyard, just like she rolled around in the sunshine.  We weren’t expecting to meet this side of her, but of course we’re delighted.

Together… as always! On the lookout for pesky squirrels!

Hello Animatch friends!
Rosie and Nessie here, and we’re loving each others company more and more everyday! At first, it was like a love/hate relationship, but now, we’re the bestest of buds. We go together everywhere. We had a wonderful Christmas, filled with presents and treats down in Niagara Falls, visiting some family and it was great! There was even a cat there, which we were sort of worried about, since they’re total snobs and all… But he turned out alright! Hope the Animatch community has a wonderful New Year as well as all the pups! We’re sure wonderful families will adopt you in no time, just like ours did!

Hello Animatch! Happy New Year to you all!

I have just been for a fun romp in the snow with some doggie friends in the woods. Mommy moved the furniture around in the living room and now I have a great perch on the back of the couch where I can look out the windows and bark greetings to any friends who walk past the house. I am trying to stay awake in case someone walks by, but my head is very heavy and so are my eyelids. ...yaaawwwnnn… maybe I’ll just have a quick dog nap. I’m sure we’ll see you at the plaza sometime soon. All the best to you all for 2012!

Hi Animatch

It has been awhile but I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Life is very good for me.  I lost my brother Chase this summer from Cancer so there is just me and let me tell you, I get all the loving now.  My parents call me goofy because I like to bring them things especially their shoes or boots and I play games with them because I don’t give them back very easily.  I have a nice warm bed that I sleep on every night and lots of attention.  There is always a treat or two for me and at Chrismas my stocking was full.  No one gets mad at me, there is just lots of tail wags and kisses.  I love my backyard and usually the first thing I do when I go out is roll around in the grass or snow.  When my mom is home I usually get lots of exercise following her around the house.  I never let her out of my sight and she always talks to me and give me pats or rubs.  Life is very very good.  Thank you Animatch to believing in me and letting me get adopted.

Zita has brought us loads of love and happiness since she joined our family. We think she seems to like it here too! She especially enjoys playing fetch with her new toys and getting her tummy rubbed anytime. We love her. Thank you Animatch. Gary, Joanne, Calder, Emmy, Bear, Belle and Jinxy.

Hello to everybody at Animatch.

James & I wanted to give you a little update on our new family member Jack (aka Rush). We have had him for just over a month and he has quickly become the center of attention not only for us but our extended family also! He is adjusting well!
He is a very playful fellow, always ready to play fetch and tug of war. His favorite game seems to be “keep-away” which can be a bit of trouble depending on what he picks up! But since he is a very clever dog, he understands quickly when something is not meant as a toy- he learns very fast!
He loves running in the park with other dog friends, car rides and visiting with our families as they are also willing to play! He especially enjoyed a run in the woods up north during a visit at James’ parents’ cottage smile
Here is a pciture of Jack waiting for his presents Christmas morning. He received lots of new things to play with that day!
Thanks so much for all the work you do, we are so happy that Jack has found his way in to our home!!

Vanessa & James

Thank You for all the hard work you do at Animatch and most of all Thank You for finding our Wally (aka Harry) for us. Wally is the best dog in the whole world who makes us laugh everyday. This little dog has the heart of a warrior, is not afraid of anything and has an abundant amount of love for everyone he meets. Our hearts are a little lighter because of him and his antics. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts…
Linda and Ken

Well ....I’m still here…..My new family has alot of patience thats for sure, I’ve put them to the test. But they love me took awhile no doubt about it, my big brother loves me too, he lost a few pounds me hounding him out back, and since the big guy walks me 4 or 5 times a day and off to the dog run we go well my big brothers gotta come too.  He even likes some of the guys now, not all but he sees me getting attention and well being a bernie he wants some too.I have some anxiety issues we are all working on that. I just miss them thats all. I must be doing something right I get to sleep upstairs now on the floor but beside my ladies bed, ahhhh I like that. You should see her mommy look it makes me want to behave just like all her kids…I know its been a tough battle but I know I’ll be just like my big brother one day except I’ll always like people more hahahah.

After a rough start in life she is finally home.

Her Animatch name was Kenza, but her new name is “Shotzie”, which, in German, means “little treasure”. We adopted her after Christmas and she now lives with us in the country with a big fenced yard. Shotzie has a big sister named Piper who is helping her get settled…not that she needs it. She made herself right at home the moment she walked through the front door. Shotzie has a big basket of toys that she likes to stick her head into and find the squeakiest ones.  She is so funny, cute and playful that we haven’t stopped smiling since we adopted her. As you can see, she has claimed her spot on the couch and is loving every minute of her new home.

Thanks to the folks at Animatch for the wonderful work they do, and for hooking us up with our new little treasure.

Hi there

Do you remember me? I’m Ruby and I was a bit of a ricochet dog, having been through Animatch’s doors twice. I’m happy to share that I am finally home, with Tara & Kevin who love me very much. We take long walks, I go for runs with my mom (and she’s looking into fitting me with a special skiing leash so that we can hit the trails together!); I play in the snow with my brother-from-another-mother, Nash and, when I get tired, I have my own chair to nap in. I have a whole slew of new dog and human friends and have learned that there’s nothing better than a group walk with some of my friends!
I’m learning my commands in 2 languages and trying very hard to listen before I act - my humans are pretty patient with me and I’m showing them how smart I am. My mom says that I’m a very special girl and I love it when she asks me if I want a hug - my favourite treat EVER!
Thank you for taking such good care of me and getting me to my family. We are all very grateful for you and your good work.
Much affection,
Ruby, Nash, Kevin & Tara

Hi! I adopted a little dog in December of 2009. His name was “Maddox the Marvelous Mutt”. He is sweet and I cannot thank you more for letting us adopt him. Thank you!

Hello to all of you at Animatch.  Maggie, a sweet 4 year old Bedlington Terrier, arrived here as Truffles three years ago this coming January 19th.

She quickly captivated our hearts with all of her affectionate kisses and cuddles.
She became my little shadow and the center of attention in our home.  And what a welcoming committee she is !!  Anyone who is lucky enough to share some time with her will meet with a little girl always happy and wagging her tail.  Maggie absolutely thinks that everyone is her best friend.

We were unsure at adoption time how she would react to my Siameese cat.
Well, there was reaalllly no need to worry..grin  She adopted him as soon as she walked in the door and he did the same due to her very gentle nature.  They sleep together and groom one another all the time and when play time comes around they chase each other back and forth.  Thank you for the great work that you do.

To all the great people at Animatch and all the saints who have made loving homes for their animals, Merry Christmas me and my wonderful “babies,” Gracie (6 1/2 months) and Lexus (13 1/2 years).

Today is the one year mark since Molly (who came to us as Julie) came into our lives! Here she is at Christmas, tolerating her red Christmas bows… it was worth it because she managed to sneak a half-wheel of cheese off the coffee table! Naughty girl! Merry Christmas to Animatch and all their current and former adoptees, as well as the wonderful people who make it all work. Oh and a Happy New Year too!

I’m sure its hard to keep your hopes up for these dogs… they deeserve a better life and you are giving them that oppurtunity. I would like to thank you on behalf of all of the dogs who were ever in your shelter.

Thanks!

Coco and I want to wish all you wonderful loving souls (two legged and fourpawed) for all you do, and especially for matching us up. I keep telling everyone I “won the dog lottery” and about how great Animatch is. Coco truly is my dream come true and I’m grateful to have him every moment of every single day.

Merry Christmas and thanks Animatch!

p.s. here are recent pictures from a bedtime story session…

Having a wonderful holiday with our little “zoo”.  Marley is being such a good girl.  Even with all the other dogs (5 in all on Christmas Eve!), she’s her quiet, snuggly, sweet self.  Thank you Animatch, for our most wonderful gift this year.
Best wishes to all!

Hi everyone,

Happy Holidays from our family to yours! when we adopted Chica last December, Carl and i never thought we would ever be able to get her to sit and stay let alone sit and stay next to another dog but here she is one year later sitting and staying next to her “brother.” This is Zeus aka “Big Boy” ‘s first Christmas with us and although he’s eaten all the candy canes off our tree as far up as he can reach, we are thrilled to have him!

Here are Chica and Zeus sitting patiently by the Christmas tree waiting for Santa to arrive

Max and family would like to wish all the volunteers and adoptees at Animatch a Happy Holiday season, and hope that each and every pup is able to find their furever home very soon!

It has been just over a year since we adopted Taxi (now Max), and I can’t thank Animatch enough for letting us bring this amazing little guy into our lives. With Max, every day is an adventure, and he has become the king of our domain (or so he likes to think). He is not only a loyal friend to our Boxer, Lilly, but to my son, my husband and myself, as well. He’s a true blessing and a very special little guy.

All the best to everyone and here’s wishing that each and every adoptee finds their match in early 2012!

Max, Lilly and their family (Carey, Jon and Noah)

Since last week, we can see Oslo in a TV commercial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUyGd1wedaM. Oslo is a very fast learning dog. He’s very enthusiastic too. I had fun training him for this add, and he was soooo professional during the shooting. He’s my little star!

Hi all, Maggie and I just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone at Animatch. Thanks for blessing me with this joyous girl. She is always fun and always smiling. She and her sister Bonnie love all our treks outdoors and has a blast tearing around with her treasures that she drags home. Here is a link to a short clip of her playing with a log she lugged home. (Unfortunately, as usual, I forgot to turn my iPhone sideways before I took the video lol ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGKRB9jHefo&feature=autoplay&list=UU84-RznzFfE7SvdIjZw4FoA&lf=plcp&playnext=1
We hope you all have a great Christmas,
Diane and Maggie

We are Zoey (golden) and Raggzy (terrier) and were adopted from Animatch in March and May respectively.

Mum took us to meet Santa and it was a whole bunch of fun to see all the Animatch volunteers again.  Zoey had lost a whopping 40lbs and Raggzy was still accepting cuddles from all who offered…just as she did when she was at the centre.

We really had no idea what to ask Santa for for Christmas…we really do have it all now.  At least two long walks a day…the one in the woods is our favorite.  We don’t like leashes too much but we are working on it.  We have two yummy meals a day and treats during the day when we get our training right.  And warm comfy places to sleep???  There is no end.  We have beds ALL OVER the house as well as blanketed spaces on the couches and a spot on the human bed.  Our fave is going is going back to bed after breakfast for an hour or so.

We really were scared and confused way back when we were at the centre but we are living the life of Riley now.  Our Mum and Dad love us sooooooo much and our feline brother and sister seem to have gotten used to us too, though there are still occasional “chase” incidents but no harm done LOL

Our Mum and Dad say they don’t have anything to ask for for Christmas either so this is obviously another happy Animatch ending!!!

Thanks to Helen and all the volunteers who kept us safe while we waited for our furever home…xox

Monster taking a nap…

Dear Animatch,

This is a long-overdue Monster update. I have attached a bunch of pictures so you can see firsthand: Monster is actually getting more furry and teddy-bear-like every day. We call him our “real live bear”.

We adopted Monster (aka Chili) this past August when he was about 2 and a half months old. Monster was one of 6 little yorkie/x-factor treasures that had been given up for adoption, along with their mom, Spicy. Although Monster was petrified on the long drive home, he adapted to his new home almost immediately. He loved his crate from day 1 and immediately took to sleeping on us and licking us every chance he got. He quickly became the core of our little family.

Monster is now 6 months old. He loves his toys (he has been known to take them out of the toy-basket and put them back one-by-one. Ok, sort of), licking our feet when we get out of the shower, attacking teddy bears (especially the ones that look like him), and antagonizing other dogs by charging towards them, realizing he is petrified, and then turning and running off in the other direction. Admittedly, he’s not perfect (although he comes pretty close). We’re still working on curbing biting (for all of 7 lbs, he can bite surprisingly hard) and the “occasional” bathroom accident. He puts absolutely everything in his mouth (edible or not).  He eats the pee-pad in his crate. He has peed in places I don’t even want to talk about. Of course, this is nothing compared to how much he makes us laugh (multiple times per day). Monster is truly the best choice we ever made. I can hardly remember life without him.

Thank you so much Animatch. You are doing wonderful work!

Lots of love and Happy Holiday,
Rhonda, Adam and Monster

Just thinking of you ! while you are griefing the lost of Camy !

A Letter From Your Pet In Heaven

To my dearest family,
some things I’d like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
that I arrived okay.
I’m writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there’s no more tears of sadness.
Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy
just because I’m out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, “I welcome you.
It’s good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They’ll be here later on.”
God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night
the day’s chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you…
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years,
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you
all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you,
you wouldn’t understand.
But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o’er.
I’m closer to you now,
than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it
by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy
and I’d like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world,
the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody
who’s in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night…
“My day was not in vain.”
And now I am contented…
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along
I made somebody smile.
God says: “If you meet somebody
who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.
When you’re walking down the street
with me on your mind;
I’m walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.”
“And when it’s time for you to go…
from that body to be free.
Remember you’re not going…
you’re coming here to me.”

Françoise

It’s with saddness and broken hearts that our family wishes to advise all of our Animatch friends that Camy passed away on December 7th, 2011.

Since August of this year, Camy and our family fought so very hard to keep loving each other but God had other plans for Camy, He needed another little angel at Rainbow Bridge.  We shared Camy’s life for 3 wonderful years, from day one she was a Daddy’s girl sharing with my husband an invisible bond that will never be broken.  With Mommy, she shared kisses and cuddles that will never be forgotten.

I am sharing a picture of Camy where she enjoyed herself the most, at our campground.  I hope there is grass and sunshine up there for you Camy since you were your happiest sunning yourself little mimi.

I adopted Susie (aka “Sushi”) from Animatch in 2004. No one knows what her life before Animatch was like - she was found as a stray, had her vocal cord cut, was dirty and matted. Estimated at the age of 6, she came to us as a shy little girl but blossomed into a confident, loving companion over the years. At home, she loved treats and would do all sorts of tricks for them. Susie was an affectionate girl and loved to lay at our feet, asking for a belly rub, or simply just staying near us. In the past two years her age started to show. She had a chronic eye problem which required routine treatment, and had to undergo surgery to have a lump removed from her leg. But she came out of every episode like a little fighter, and had the sweetest temperament no matter what the situation was.

Susie was diagnosed with lymphoma in late July. Because of her age and her health, we only did a brief chemo session with her and had to stop. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2011. She was about 13 years old.

Susie is being missed dearly. She was a loyal companion to us and very loving in every way. She will always have a special place in my heart and I will always remember her as the sweet girl that she was.

Lysiane, Guillaume & Maggie : )

I can hardly believe it has been six months since Charlie came home with me.  Formerly named Waggit, I can assure you his tail still wags constantly and he’s a happy boy!  He has his thicker coat now, so soft and shiny, and he’s gained just a bit of weight.  He loved the snow we had recently and seemed puzzled when the grass came back.  He follows me around the house, watches me vacuum or “helps” me do laundry and, when I head down to my office to work, he just wants to tag along.  This photo was taken on the couch in the office, where he loves to snuggle in as many blankets as I’ll give him smile  Although I think he will always be a bit anxious or skittish, he has proven to be a very affectionate little guy who is happiest when someone wants to hold and cuddle him ~ and I find that impossible to resist wink

Jason Yen is the lucky winner of two tickets to see Cirque du Soleil – Dralion on December 29th.
Thanks to all of the Animatch supporters who purchased tickets!

Oslo just turned two years, and we are undoubtebly best friends. We’ve been doing freestyle together and we did a littre presentation at the SNAC recently. It was very difficult because of the noise in the stadium and all the barking around, but I think we we were able to show how much we love eachother. We made quite a few mistakes, especially at the beginning, but I though you might want to look at the performance anyway : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_HqQBxIdM8. I am extremely proud of Oslo and I am sure his former Animatch family is too! Thanks again for your wonderfull work with all the furbabies.

Recently we took a trip to Palm Springs California and we brought the poodles with us…what a treat to be able to enjoy their company while on vacation. They did super well on the airplane & thru security & customs…they are great little travellers. I’ve included a photo of Miss Jezebelle who fit right in with the California lifestyle!

Thank you Animatch for all that you do for the love of dogs…xoxo

I am trying to include a picture of Roxy to add with my message.
It didn’t work the first time, hopefully it will succeed this time.

I recently received the Christmas info from Animatch and realised that this will be
wonderful Winnie’s 4th Christmas with me. Last year she received a very special
early gift a sister from Kiko shelter. Geisha was 6 1/2 when she came and Winnie
is very pleased to have someone to walk, car ride and guard the street with.
As you can see from photo they are happy to share a chair together. (WInnie is the
yorkie mix who has changed colours so many times from deep rust/black to current
grey,beige, black)
Thank you once again for WInnie with her winning unique ways.
Susan

bonjour Animatch,

90 lbs for the moment smile

Hi Everyone at Animatch,

We just wanted to update everyone on how happy chica and zeus are! they both just completed training at tri l kennel with larry, we LOVE Larry!! Chica is doing so much better with other dogs and people, she doesn’t go crazy when she see a person or dog on the street. She doesn’t hurt herself in her crate anymore and doesn’t have that anxiety she did before.Shes gained weight and looks amazing! Chica is also getting used to my parents dogs slowly but surely, she can walk beside the lab and hound without going too crazy but the other little boxer and her have Turf issues raspberry. we go for walks with them and they don’t pull us down the street which is good because Zeus is one big dog! Zeus lost weight and has his thyroid condition under control and his eye is all healed, hes so happy! hes like a puppy!

The picture i thought everyone would like is Chica and Zeus in Chica’s crate. Carl and i were cleaning out the office where we keep chica’s crate and moved the crate but kept the door open, we turn around for 5minutes and look back and their BOTH sitting in it! we thought it was too funny so we closed the door to snap a picture (but let them out right after smile )

Hi everyone at Animatch,
Just a little update on our Charlie. He is now 17months old and weighs about 90lbs. Yes he is a big boy! He is doing great and we all love him. Here he is taking his afternoon nap.
Take care,
Anna

Happy Halloween to all my Animatch friends! Mom thought it would be fun to dress us all up this year ... we were not overly impressed but what can you do? Gotta love them humans.

After giving up my house on my third birthday to Animatch in October I end up piling wood for my owner, Frank and Judy

Just a little note to say hi and tell you that I’m still enjoying my retirement years out in the country. My canine companion Foxy passed away last January and that was a big change in our lives but I now how 2 furpals - twin white kitty cats including a deaf one who always wants to rub on me! But I’m good, I let him have a side of my loveseat.

Big kiss to Hélène and all the great folks at Animatch!

Sorry, I have got to go now, playtime smile)) talk to you soon! Hugs, Mitch

Hi everyone,
To keep you up to date with Coco, here are some pictures.

Coco had no trouble joining our family. She greets people and dogs without hesitation.  She is a very friendly girl.  Coco met our daughter’s 2 dogs and all got along very well.  The two smaller dogs chase each other and play. The larger dog just watches and lets the high energy puppies have a good time.

As you know we rescued another dog a week after picking up Coco. Katie is a cockapoo as well. Katie’s parents weighed around 20 pounds, so she will be smaller than Coco. Katie was born June 17th. So Coco will be the big sister. The two dogs have gotten along without any issues. They can play independently and with each other.  As you can see they can also sleep together.

Coco is eating well and has made progress with housebreaking.  She doesn’t give many hints that it is time to go out.  We are getting close to getting her on a schedule so we don’t have to follow her around.

We are very pleased to have Coco join our family. You do not have to worry, she is with a family that loves and cares for her.

Steve

Mimmi!

Here is another sweet one!

Finally the time has come….here are some very recent photos to mark our 2nd full week with Mimmi! Things are going super well and she loves living with us…as much as we love being with her!

Love Mimmi’s Family xoxo

Hello everybody. This is Mitch (Rikkard) and I am very happy in my new home. My parents take me for hikes and swims. As you can see on my photo I enjoy the water a lot I am a great swimmer. After I have been ill within my first two weeks I am now fit as can be. I go running and catching balls in the dog park every day. There are a couple of buddies i really like. This Saturday I am gonna get a new “brother”. I am looking forward to that. My mommy will post a photo of both of us soon.
Good night and talk to you soon.

Bark n’Brunch is back for 2012.  Our famous brunch will be held at a new venue, the Karnak Shriners Temple on Sources Blvd.  See our poster for all of the details.

Dear Animatch Friends of Kismet,

I want to update you and let you know that Kismet is fabulous as ever and enjoying the cooler temperatures which bring increased squirrel activity! Nothing is more important to Kismet than the hunt! My girl is now 3 years old, a consistent 85lbs. and in very good health. I am constantly complimented on how good a dog Kismet is, how quiet she is after the initial excitement of people coming into the house and how well behaved she is in the car.

We continue to explore and find new places in the city of Toronto to go for walks and are currently enjoying High Park and the off-leash areas there. We enjoyed a quiet, low-key summer in Toronto with daily trips to the creek for my diva to have her evening bath!

I cannot imagine my life without my beautiful Bouvier des Flandres and I am forever grateful for Animatch and the services you continue to provide.

I have posted recent photos of Kismet on my blog if you care to see more photos:

Take care for now and god bless.

Hi, Remember me? I am that crazy doggy that likes to tear up paper. Well, I just want you to know that I have settled into my new ” forever home” and I could not be happier. I have a big back yard to run around in, 3 big boys to play with , and more love than I know what to do with. I went to dog training school just to find out that I had already gradutated from there a few years ago and just need a refresher course. I listen very well now ( sometimes) , but I still love to run off the minute someone leaves a gate open. I found out that my 3 big boys can actually outrun me so I do not get very far.
My new family is so happy with me that they want to give me a forever playmate. So if you know of anyone that has another Bernese Mountain dog like me, please tell Animatch so they can adopted him or her too. I would love a cousin.
Thank you Animatch for taking good care of me.

Well we adopted our second dog a few weeks ago and there was some concern if Hershey, the chocolate lab, would fit in and how Lucky, (formally Magic) the black lab who we adopted 6 years ago would take to having to share the household. Well maybe you can guess by looking at this photo how things are shaping up…..we will keep you all posted….

Hi all.  This is the week before Thanksgiving 2011.  I’m a happy camper, but I have to tell you that the ragweed in this area really does a number of my sensitive skin.  But, my question is this:

Catherine tells me that a fire in the fireplace is nothing to worry about, and is something that humans and even dogs enjoy throughout cold winters.  But, it’s not THAT cold!  It’s now perfect weather for me to run and not get too hot.  I’ve got to tell you - I’m not so sure about this inside-the-house-fire-stuff!  Kyra, who has ADD for dogs, doesn’t seem concerned, but, like I said, she’s got ADD for dogs!  I’m not at all thrilled about this, but I will be a good friend and companion to her, and trust that what she says is true.

By the way, this picture is old, but she couldn’t get one of me where I was comfortable, because of this ‘lit fireplace’ thing going on right now.

Remember me? It’s me, Uno - the yellow lab .... It’s been 5 years since I was at Animatch, and I just wanted to say hi!  I’ve grown quite a bit and have a wonderful family who take good care of me.  Not long ago they adopted another furbaby for me to play with. JoJo is a shepherd/husky cross and now we are just one big happy family - me, JoJo, Apples (our cat), and Cheeks (our rabbit).  Sometimes mom says it’s like feeding time at the zoo around our place, but we are all just having fun.  Big wet kisses to everyone.
Love Uno

Mimmi has completed the task of sleeping in her crate without much noise!!! YAY!!!! We are so proud of her because she was never used to sleeping in a crate and actually fell asleep in less than 30 min! She is such a good puppy and we love her to death!!! Hopefully a picture will be posted in no time!

Thank-you Animatch for all of your support throughout Mimmi’s adoption! Mimmi and her family gladly appreciate it!

Love, Sarah, Hannah, Paula and Steve <3

Just yesterday, we went to the Animatch Center to pick up a wonderful 6 month old shit-tzu puppy named Mimmi. Mimmi was never on the web site, but her sweet little personality would have sold her in one second. Mimmi was unfortunately given up because her owner was uncapable to keep a dog anymore. Mimmi has been adapting well to her new home, however she is still testing us quite a bit. She loves to take long walks and to cuddle close to us in the car. She also loves to chew on her beloved toys that are already very slimy! Right now, she is sleeping next to me on her doughnut bed and she is loving life! In a few days, Mimmi will feel at home for good! Welcome to your “furever home”,  Mimmi!

Love, Sarah Hannah, Paula and Steve smile

Gracie (formerly Cayenne) has now lived with Lexus (a 13 ½ year old Cocker Spaniel) and me for just over a month, and has taken her place as part of our family.  This puppy is a 3 ½  month old Yorkie mix, and I think the mix is rabbit.  She hops and pounces, and can jump waist high on me, although we certainly are trying to curb that!  The dogs get along well together until Gracie suddenly pounces on poor Lexus and nips, but Lexus has started to stand her ground.

Personality wise, Gracie is the devil incarnate.  She’s all teeth, chews on people, grabs clothing, steals everything that isn’t nailed down, jumps up and nips anyone and everyone to get attention.  We are working on it, but it’s not coming very fast, and when she refuses to obey, she spends time in her crate.  I think she is beginning to think her name is, “no!”

I had forgotten how much work a puppy can be.  Training is going very slowly. Gracie knows why she is outside, and will do a pee and a pooh, then come in the house and pooh again.  I am back to having her on a leash all day, and at least I am trained!  I’ve read that terriers can be hard to train, and for sure, she has read the book!

Gracie races around the back yard as if she is wired, and might keep running back and forth as fast as she can for as long as two or three minutes without stopping.  Unfortunately, she does stop long enough to eat pooh (I wish I know how to stop that!) or dig up plants!

Like a naughty child, Gracie is really lucky that she is cute or we’d have thrown her out with the bath water by now.  All this said, she is adorable, super cuddly when not biting, loves her toys and chew bones, and creates a parade of children wherever we go.  She is crazy about my grandchildren (crazy is the right word here—they all get pretty hyper, and then she gets put in her crate again!  Too bad I can’t put them in there, too…)

Gracie has wormed her way into my heart, and is very much a mama baby.  I can see that (eventually) she is going to be a fabulous pet.  In the meantime, she’s either going to keep me young or make me really old, really fast.

I’m so glad Animatch found Gracie for me.  One day I’ll thank them.  Just not yet…

Here’s Edgar grin  We adopted him almost 6 years ago.  He is still a goofy guy and makes us laugh every day.  Edgar still loves to play ball and hates flies grin  He’s been enjoying life on the farm with plenty of room to run and play.  He plays in the stream with his brother (120lb GSD) when we go for long walks, he loves to put his head under water and come up with a prize rock.  Not too good for his teeth, but it’s like balls and flies, there is no stopping him!

Hi Helen:
Remember me Kody ( DouDou ) Mom finally got my own dog tag ( first one was lost in the mail )  with my name - telephone numbers ( lots of telephone numbers ) she says if I should get lost, people can reach her on any of those numbers even grand-ma !!  I liked the one you gave me but it kept dragging on the ground when I chased butterflies and grasshoppers they could hear me coming grin
I am having lots of fun, I get lots and lots of luving from Mom, Dad, Camy and Belle.
Mom is teaching me how to walk on a leash - I walk a bit then sit down - I prefer when Mom carries me anyways…...  Mom encourages me to walk a wee bit farther but I prefer being held in her arms.  She kisses me and says, ‘’ little man your one spoiled furbaby but what the heck; we have the rest of our lives to learn walking on a leash.”  Mom loves all of us ( ME - Belle & Camy)  so so much and we love her Big time too.
psssssss tell you a secret Helen - when Mom & Dad are asleep, I crawl up and sleep between their pillows that way I get to be first to get morning cuddles wink

Hello Everyone:  Today was such a nice day that even the butterflies were out, the furbabies were having a grand time sunning. I took a picture of Kody but will let him tell his story.

Usually, it’s Camy’s job to run after those white things with wings, but Camy is not feeling too good lately - she says she’s a Supervisor now - for me to follow her instructions….. She told me to make sure I chase only butterflies not to get mixed up with the yellow sound making flying things… Camy says they hurt !!!  Will be sure not to chase those !!
So, here I am guarding Mom’s flowers - had lots of fun - Mom took lots and lots of pictures but she can’t put them all on Fan Mail - Hé Auntie Debbie - Mom told me you find me sooooooo cute.  How do you like my standing at attention for those darn butterflies.

Or in this case, a dogs’ life.  It was a rainy morning and this is how we found our two little ones, after they had been outside to “do their thing” and had their breakfast.  What I wouldn’t have given to crawl in there beside them!

For anyone who is curious, the darker one is our Animatch adoptee, Marley and the little yorkie mix is Brady, our adoptee from the SPCA Montéregie.

They bring so much happiness to our home!

Well, after seeing a few posts from two of Lucy’s pups I thought it was time to post a current picture of our wonderful little Lucy.  Here she is in Sudbury, Ontario where we were helping her 88 year old great grandma move into an assisted living apartment.  She provided great joy to many of the residents of the facility.  They all wanted to get close to her and while I was a bit worried she might be skittish she remained loosely on her leash and when I would gently introduce her to the resident she would let them pet her and snuggle with her a bit.  I was amazed at how calm she was and was asked a couple of times if she was a trained therapy dog.  What a treasure we have found in our dear little Lucy.

Hello to all my friends at Animatch. I’m with my new Mummy and Daddy, and I’m loving it. My first day was good, but a little stressful. Once I got to go for a walk with my new brother and sister. My mummy and daddy fust over me, by combing my head and my tail I started to fit in and enjoyed the attention. I now get to go for a 2+ kms walk every day. I get to play with my brother and sister, and mom and dad play with me all the time. I know I’m part of my new family because I get to sit on the sofa with every buddy. I want to thank all my friends at Animatch for taking care of me well I was there, and thank you for helping me find my new mummy and daddy. Now a word from my new parent.

Soyha is very sweet, loving, and gentle girl. We have no idea why some one would not have spent some more time with her. She has come along way in one week. Soyha’s look in her eyes has changed from that frighten little dog to that warm trusting little puppy. She still has some moments of shyness, but her curiousity makes her come and see what is happening. She has 2 arces of land to run and loves to play with the other 2 dogs. Soyha is more then a joy to have and we feel very luck that she has allowed us to be her new parents. Soyha will have a forever home with us. We would like to thank all the people at Animatch for a wonderful service that you do for the animals.

Hello Animatch!

It has now been 5 weeks since I adopted Stella (formerly Remie), and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. When I met Stella, I hadn’t been planning on taking her home that day – but she was so wonderful I couldn’t stand to leave Animatch without her! The first week was rough. Stella came down with a lung infection and I was petrified. There were sleepless nights and lots of crying on my part; I thought she was going to the great green pasture in the sky… But with the help of Animatch and their volunteers’ support Stella and I made it through! Then, to my surprise, she started showing me that she is even more amazing than I initially thought! Stella is house trained, crate trained, doesn’t bark, and even knows a few commands. She is a cuddle monster, a Mexican jumping bean and a little wiggle worm all in one. I bring her everywhere with me, and she is loved by family, friends and colleagues. Thank you so much to Animatch for this wonderful bundle of joy! smile

Mom wanted to take a picture when I first jump from the trailer to the landing but I just wanted to have my picture taken grin I waited until she put the camera down then I jumped.  Mom says I am a gem just like Debbie said I was !!!
Hope all my furbuddies at Animatch get to have their very own people family - it’s a blast !!!

Hello everyone,

I know there are many of you that fell for GALAXY…we can now see why !  We adopted Charlie 2 weeks ago and have been SO happy have him with our family.  Although he certainly lived up to the name GALAXY we thought we’d give the name CHARLIE a chance and he’s responding just fine. Charlie has been a pleasure - sure he’s high energy but we just make sure to walk him lots and play in the yard a lot with the boys.  Can’t believe we were so lucky to get him - thank goodness no one else tried him out or we would not have him in our lives.  We have two boys—7 and 9 and they love him so much already - my 9 year old leaves the house every morning saying “your the cutest thing ever…I love you Charlie” !  I walk him 3 times a day - and yes - he’s nuts with other dogs on leash, something we’ll be working on in the future but I managed to get two of my neighbors with dogs to walk along side him - 1st 10 minutes was crazy but then all was great and now he plays free in the yard with his buddy Haley - a 9 month golden-doodle (twice his size) at least 1 hour a day.  Lori, his foster mommy did such great things with him - he is a kind, gentle and always eager to please kind of dog - It’s people like Lori that help get these pups that haven’t had a chance a little direction to get them ready for their forever home - THANKS LORI !  Charlie is doing just great and we fell in love the 1st day we saw him and everyday love him ever more…we believe he was meant to be ours.  Charlie will be loved and cherished with us forever !  Deb, Phil, Jake and Emmett - his new family

Today marks one week that Mommy & Daddy adopted me.  Wow, the trip to my forever home was a long one but so worth it.  I’ve learned a few things in my first week and today we are at campground.  Camy & I are the best of friends, Belle is a Senior and doesn’t want to play much.  I watched Camy jump from the trailer to the landing and now I can do it too… I played, ran, jumped - I was so tired that Mummy said I needed to take a break.  This is fun, you should see me run - Daddy says my little legs are just a blurrr…. guess that means I can run fast.  Can you imagine, I spent most of the day outside !!! I am going to do this again tomorrow -  I am tired though; Mommy says I need my beauty sleep….watch for me because I am going to write to you again soon.

Hey fellows,
This is the proper way to celebrate 10 years of a Dog King Life !!! Life is so short that I encourage all of you to EMBRACE Life and CELEBRATE Life!!!  It is so diificult to take care of babies, pets, seniors that when you think about it ....every year is an achievement on the person who is taking care of that baby, pet, senior person….so BRAVO guardians!!!! See you next year grin
Irish Fernando.

Just an update on Fanny’s (formerly “Winnie”) brand new life. Present in our life since 4 weeks now, she has overcome all fears and obstacles to become a fantastic family dog. She is currently taking obedience classes where she learns the little things she didn’t mastered yet. She is sweet with everyone including strangers and young kids. She loves her new life so much it seems she always have been with us!

Thanks to Animatch volunteers, Fanny have a new happier life… and we have a new lovely companion!

Hi all.  It’s been a while.  Sorry that I’ve not written, but I’ve been mega busy fetching balls, swimming and all sorts of stuff!  I tease Catherine with the ball, but she’s caught onto my game.  She thought she was really smart when she taught me to hand the ball to her.  Ah-ha!  I gained a bit of weight at the time because I’d get a treat (healthy but frequent) if I handed it to her instead of dropping it.  I’m a quick study, and got so I turned it around on her and wouldn’t hand it over unless there was a treat in it for me!  Well, that doesn’t work anymore - bummer!  I’m now back to my lean-mean, handsome self of 75 lbs.  Ottawa doesn’t just have rain - it’s got storms, which I really, really don’t like.  She teases me about being a big wuss.  I follow her around because I want her to think I’m protecting her from these loud sounds and weird flashes of light.  Have gone swimming in the beautiful Ottawa River, but my sensitive skin didn’t take to it, after a few weeks, and I had to take meds to get better.  I don’t care - I had the bestest time chasing after the ball thrown in the water and competing with young Aussies to get to it first..  I even won part of the time, even though they’re way younger than my 8 years!  Hope all is well with you!  I miss all my Animatch buddies, but Catherine reads me stories about you all the time!  Hope your summer was as great as mine!

As you can tell, Mr.Scoobs has settled in quite nicely!!  He is such a great dog.  So playful and gentle.  I still can’t believe someone would give this guy away.  But lucky for us!  He is a huge part of our family and we love him dearly.  Can’t even imagine not having him in our home and hearts.
Thanks Helen and everyone at Animatch for the great work that you do.

About 8 years ago we got the love of our lives. He was looking at the end of his life as he was so abused that he could not be adopted, he cowered in a corner, he was afraid of everything. We took home this Bernese Mountain dog and loved him. He now has a sister (golden Lab) and a little Brother (mini Yorkie) that give him a good play and run everyday. We have had to be more gentile with him and not push him to have a bath or haircut as this upsets him too much. We have all agreed….....better to have a happy BabyBear than a clean one. As of today he has passed his live expectancy by over 2 years. The key to all this is if you take a dog you have to work with them, teach them but understand that they are like us. What fears they have, how they need certain love, and how they make your home so happy when you give them all this. I will always thank AniMatch for the gift they gave our family. On the old heading of their web sight there was a picture of our Bear.
God Bless and keep giving such great gifts to those that get it.

Siobhan Finley

Hi folks!
Wilson here. I used to be known as Guizmo when I was back at Animatch, but I’m settling in well to my new home and new name. My new house was all set up for me when I got here, with my own bed in the living room (even though I’ve decided to take over the yoga mat in the bedroom as a back-up) and a fenced yard so I can roam around. Too bad my humans didn’t mention all the cats next door! I’ve made it my mission to make sure that they don’t dare come in for a visit. Them and the pesky squirrels.
I finally got a clean bill of health from the vet, even though he says I’m much too skinny. My “Grandmas” have made it their personal mission to fatten me up. One brought me a big thing of chicken fat to add to my food, and the other brought me a big bag of duck dog treats and a plush piece of toast my humans have named “Squeaky Toast”. My humans say I might getting spoiled with all the tasty morsels and cuddles, but they also mentioned something about taking me to “school”.... not so sure how I feel about that. I already know sit and come, I just don’t much like to stay. I wonder if they have squirrels at “school”...
I’ve been busy making friends with all the dogs in the neighbourhood since there’s an off-leash park nearby, and I’ve already met FIVE other poodles. None of them are multi-coloured like me, though. My best friends are a pair of border collies from down the road. I like to herd them when they’re playing just like I do with the ducks in the river. My humans say they’ve never heard of border collies being the herded rather than the herders. I also like to run and play with the standard poodle at Grandma’s house; he’s a better swimmer than me but I’ll get there.

Chers amis Animatch,
Dear Animatch friends,

Merci Animatch
Manon

I’m pleased to provide you with some good news about Angus (now Yukon). I have adopted him almost a year ago now (5Sep2010). We both leave a great love story together. He is totally adorable! Yukon is the perfect dog for me. He listens to me, understands well, he is very clever dog learning things very quickly. He is very gentle and calm, incredibly calm. My little Bébéchienchien barks only when necessary, doesn’t bite even softly, he chews only what he knows he can, he is very affectionate, always happy and in good mood. He is my dream dog. He runs everyday with me and he likes it soooo much. This summer he discovered he could swim but my beauténébreux doesn’t like water that much. He likes to get in when it is very hot and humid only.

Yukon and I are very happy together.
Thank you so much Animatch
Manon

Hello, Moxie here!
I’m taking a bit of time to let you know that I’m very happy in my new home. I can’t stay too long on the computer, because I have to keep an eye on those pesky squirrels. I go for lots of walks and I get to run in a beautiful grassed dog park. For the after supper walk, Nickie the cat comes with us, following a few steps behind. We make a very cute family and neighbours now wait for us to go by and gush at how cute we are (especially me, of course!). Got to go and be on guard. Talk to you later.

Hi everyone! I’m Nessie! I was adopted back in the summer of 2009, and recently found myself a new friend named Rosie, who also came from Animatch! She just got home, and I can’t wait for her to be big enough so I can play with her, even though she’s got lots of energy and is always down for a chase. I’ve been having lots of fun with my new sister and family. I love curling up on your lap while you read, sticking my head out the window during car-rides, playing fetch… for hours… and hours as well as making new friends with the neighboring dogs. My best friend is a toy poodle named Toby; he’s awesome! We play chase for hours at a time. By the end of the day, I’m usually so pooped, it’s lights out for me at 8PM! Well, that’s about it for now! I’ll make sure Rosie sends a picture as soon as we can get her to stand still for more than .5 seconds to get a good shot! Nessie OVER and OUT!

Jem named after her kind disposition. It was love at first sight. I am so attached to this dog it is frightening.
She follows me wherever I go and when I can’t take her along she sits and waits for me to return. She is not the brightest light on the Christmas tree, she can be a little jealous at times if I spend too much time with the other pets but the most special thing about her is how she cares for our cats. She will carry them around, give them baths, plays and sleeps with them. When we had fostered kittens she would gather them up and put them in her bed to sleep. She loves to lie in the sun outside and chase rabbits. She is so quiet you could easily forget she is around. She is my friend.
Naya came to us because my son convinced me that we just had to adopt her after he saw her picture in the paper. She has been a challenge. Food rules which would explain her weight issues in her previous life. She will eat anything and everything but lemons. She even takes the apples off the apple tree. She is very vocal, barks at anything that moves. I have learned a great deal about animal behavior by having Naya in our lives. I no longer fight her but accept her for who and what she is. A Basset Hound. Never in my life have a lived with such an intelligent stubborn creature. You must always be 5 steps ahead of her. The best part of Naya is she loves us. She is so sweet and affectionate and loves every member of our family equally. If my children leave for any length of time she misses them so much and cries when they come back. She is a great family dog and always wants all of us together. She has come a long way. Got to love her howling.
Naya and Jem love each other. They are completely different but are best friends.
Adopting them into our lives has been a blessing. Like my son says…“you never let us lie on the couch after rolling in the mud outside”

Mr. Majestic now weighs in at 78 lbs!  Quite a ways from the 58 lbs when we adopted him.  He is such a wonderful boy and although he is very attached to us, he’s coming around very nicely.  We could not have asked for a better companion - he was meant to be with us!

He loves to round around and enjoys his playtime in the park with his girlfriend Jersey.

Thanks again Helen and the crew for all that you do.

It’s been a month since we adopted Peggy Sue from Animatch.  She has certainly won our hearts with her charming personality.  My husband and I always knew we would adopt a dog from a shelter.  We are so happy that we chose to adopt from Animatch.  We are first time parents to a dog and we had tons of questions.  I continue to have correspondence with the train professionals at Animatch.  We love our Peggy Sue and she has come to us filling our hearts with love and joy.  And a few chuckles too!
Thank you Sherri, Helen and Joanne for knowing what’s best for us Doggy Parents!

In June this year, we lost our beloved Maggie, a Boston Terrier whom we had adopted from Animatch in 2003. She passed away at home in my arms at approximately 14 years old (her date of birth was never known). Our family was devastated and our home seemed quiet and dull. Maggie’s brother Max (also an Animatch adoptee) and our son Ben seemed lonely. My husband and I had rejected any idea of adopting again. It was too soon.

Around Canada Day/Moving (Dumping) Day my husband suggested we merely look at potential dogs. We ended up with an appointment at Animatch. The dog we met with was a cutie but we didn’t feel that instant love. I had already told Helen that I was hesitant about adopting a male, I didn’t want a younger dog and definitely no Bostons as I felt we would be replacing Maggie.

Helen knows me well as I had been an Animatch volunteer for 6 years and let me look around. Being sneaky, she put a 1.5 year old Boston Terrier (“Ninja” was his name at the time) in the room where we were. One look at that little guys’ face had us hooked. My husband and I smiled at each other and knew he would be a great addition to our family. It is also interesting to mention that our meeting with Charlie happened 8 years to the day we first met our dear Maggie.

It has been a bit over one month since Charlie joined our family and it honestly feels like he’s been a family member for ages. He loves Max and they get along great. As for our son Ben, they are best buds, partners in crime and couch buddies. The photo I submitted shows them in cuddle-mode. He is the ultimate family dog.

We miss our Maggie everyday but believe she lead us towards Charlie so we wouldn’t get lonely.

Thank you Animatch!!!

Rudy also wanted to give you his ’ blowing in the Wind’  shot .
Loving the summer !

Hello everyone,

Rudy has been hanging around with lots of Golden Retriever and has insisted that he can swim with the best of them.

He has settled in very well and we could not be more compatible !

Thank you Animatch!
