Meet Topaz, a 1.5-year-old, female, Wire hair fox terrier. Topaz was given up by the family who found her just over a month ago; they felt that they did not have the time to devote to her. This beautiful dog is very sweet and socia and once she is groomed she will be even more gorgeous. Wire Haired Fox Terriers are very intelligent and require experienced guardians who are familiar with a “terrier’s ways”. Topaz does get along with the other dogs. Although Topaz has not been tested with the cat, terriers were bred to hunt and a cat sometimes triggers their hunting instinct. Therefore, to be safe, we recommend that Topaz goes to a feline-free home. Topaz, like all terriers, is very active and needs LOTS of exercise and would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard. A 10-minute walk around the block will not satisfy this girl’s exercise requirements. Putting her in the backyard while you are in the house definitely will not meet her exercise requirements either. A tired Fox Terrier is a well-behaved Fox Terrier. Topaz is an intelligent dog who wants to please; obedience training classes would be recommended. If you understand the breed, have the time to devote to Topaz, and are willing to work with her, you will not be disappointed. will Topaz be at the adoption clinic saturday at Sears? I

Topaz will not be present at Sears. She just underwent her surgery and is still recovering. We usually wait to get to know a dog before taking them to an event which can be stressful for some pooches.

I adopted the wonderful Katie in September 2008 and am looking for a second dog of similar nature and stature - like a Fox terrier! Topaz is about the same age as Katie. Do I need to refill a form or would it be on file? None of the stats have changed since then. I am available to come visit as soon as she is ready to see people (and dogs).

Yes, please do fill in the Adoption Form again. Since we do more than 300 adoptions per year, we are unable to keep all the forms with all details required for placements of a dog.

I just saw Topaz. What a beauty. My husband and I love her all ready. I filled out the application this afternoon before I even saw her. I find her thin but I would like to think that with lots of love and good care she will fill out a bit. Do you find her healty? Looking forward to hear from you.

HELLO FRANCE….WE HAVE ADOPTED 3 RESCUE DOGS-2 FROM ANIMATCH AND THEY HAVE ALL BEEN IN GOOD HEALTH. GRANTED THEY TOO WERE “THIN” WHEN WE BROUGHT THEM HOME BECAUSE I THINK THERE IS SO MUCH TO DISTRACT THEM THEY DON’T ALWAYS FINISH THEIR MEAL. I GUARANTEE YOU ONCE YOU BRING HER HOME AND SHE IS IN A RELAXED ATMOSPHERE, HER APPETITE WILL INCREASE AND SHE WILL START TO GAIN SOME WEIGHT AND WILL SLEEP MUCH BETTER ALSO.
DUFFY AND BAILEY ARE THE LOVES OF OUR LIVES AND OUR WHOLE FAMILY ADORE THEM. THEY EAT AND SLEEP AND DO NOT HAVE A CARE IN THE WORLD. MY HUSBAND SAYS WE ARE HERE TO SERVE THEM AND THEY ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
