A Cocker Spaniel Female named Skye

Skye is presently Adopted

I am so happy to announce that Azure, Aqua and me, Skye, will all be going to our furever homes in a few days.  Thanks to all who made generous donations and for all the support and concern from everyone.  I can’t wait to have my very own home!

Skye, the shyest of the three sisters, is always the last to wake up and the first to call it a night!  She is the one who just loves to be held or sit at (or even on) your feet.  Skye has no idea what seeing is, and if you asked her, she would probably tell you she isn’t missing out on a thing. Life as she is experiencing it is Skye’s reality.  All that she is missing to make it perfect is a home – one that will accept her as she is.

Poem about a Blind Dog
by Sherrill Wardrip (Blind Dogs List member)

I cannot see you Mommy, when you cuddle me so near.
And yet I know you love me, it’s in the words I hear.
I cannot see you Daddy, when you hold me by your side
But still I know you love me when you tell me so with pride.

I cannot see to run and play out in the sun so bright
For here inside my tiny head it’s always dark as night.
I cannot see the treats you give when I am extra good
But I can wag my tail in Thanks just like a good dog should.

“She cannot see. The dogs no good” is what some folks might say
“She can’t be trained, she’ll never learn She must be put away.”
But not you, Mom and Daddy You know that it’s all right
Because I love you just as much as any dog with sight.

You took me in, you gave me love and we will never part
Because I’m blind with just my eyes, I see you in my heart.

Very moving poem… Wow!  I love it!  I decided to step out for a little while, because I thought I was too angry too often, about all the abandonments and all…  But THIS?  Supidity, ignorance, and how do you say, Debbie… Navelgazing? So selfish!  The breeder, or so called, sure did not do that for the dogs, right?  Nowt with all the existing breeds, and needing dogs, how on earth can someone just decide to “create” a COLOR for a breed, just for $$$!!! except for service dogs, there is NO excuse for that!  And now that this is the result, they just DISPOSE of these pups, with no sense of responsibility!  I sure hope these little darlings find good homes, with a lot of love and dedication…

Hi Debbie I feel the same way as you .. I feel so angry and sorry for those sweet hearts .. There is no excuses for Breeders to experiment on dog to try and get the RIGHT color .. This is so criminal .. And when it is not to their satisfaction they dispose them like old rags.Like Viviane says .. it is all for money ,,no feeling for the animal .It is sad..  :-(

They are ABSOLUTELY BEYOND ADORABLE!!~ And so my P.O.V….1) The “recipe” went bad, and they THREW the RESULTS OUT! Despicable, greedy, heartless, bad excuses for “human” beings, (from the Get Go!) 2) The poem is positively beautiful, inspiring,  and truly warmed my heart 3) We owned a Cocker Spagniel, Buffer, for @13 years, and seeing these beauties reminded me so much of him, (we got him at 8 weeks old), it brought back alot of memories, 4) So, these little puppies cannot see, and do not know what they are missing.I am imagining that they can still have a wonderful life in the arms of the right loving, patient, dedicated guardian 5) I really, really wish that I could be the “Seeing Eye Human” for one of them, but sadly, at this time, I cannot! **sniff** I will follow these precious souls on the Animatch site daily!

Those lovely pups will be someone’s dear treasures, for sure.  And Aqua, with her little paws trying to feel what’s coming in front of her, already managing to find her ways, at such a young age!  Amazing little babies!  Good for you, you’re at the right place.  The wonderful people at Animatch will help you find loving homes…

It crossed my mind yesterday, and was pretty much addressed on Facebook, as well, that these beauties MAY also have hearing issues, no? This story gets sadder by the second! Still, they have the potential to have amazing, full lives, with the right care!

One of my neighbours had a blind dog that recently passed away at the age of 12 years.  That dog was great, very gentle and there was so much love and connection between the two of them.  The dog was happy and well behaved and the only observable difference was that it would walk behind the owner…better than dogs that pull wink.

Seriously, that photo of Beautiful Skye with her ears up in the air…too much!!! In my opinion, these are award winning pictures of three of the most precious little souls that I’ve seen in a while! Shame on anyone who would consider snuffing the life out of these little angels based on their imperfections / disabilities, which are, afterall, in the eye of the beholder. Thankfully for this little brood, SOMEONE had the good sense and decency to give them a chance at a happy life…..My only fear, is this “Breeder” (not really what I want to call him/her), going to continue trying to perfect the “recipe”....until they get it “right”?! ...Scary and heart-breaking stuff! Good luck little ones. You have no idea how very many people you are touching and hopefully, many, many people will be discussing you at the dinner table, and making the very noble decision to take you under their wing and ultimately teach you to SOAR!!! wink

To me, the most disgusting aspect of this story is that no matter what we think about how that crack-pot (he doesn’t really qualify as a breeder as far as I’m concerned) should be punished/sanctioned/fined - the fact is he did nothing LEGALLY wrong.  Our government SUCKS and have SUCKED for decades now in this area at least.  They don’t take responsibility for regulating this industry, which is mostly black market and unconscionable, or media forums like Kijiji and Lespacs which enable BYB activity and profitability.  If only the government would put some effort into this area, for example, making sure tenants have a right to keep their animals, or making spay/neuter mandatory, or licensing the industry and collecting taxes on them.  If these BYB were subject to the same government nitpicking as any other business, believe me many would just quit in despair!

Those puppies are God’s gift to us and I am so thankful that they ended up in Animatch’s lap so to speak.  I don’t feel sorry for them, I am thrilled for them.  grin  They will be adopted into loving homes and only know love and security the rest of their lives.  They don’t think of themselves as defective or disabled, why should we?

The only thought that comforts me with regards to the crack-pot, is that “what goes around, comes around” and I hope that he or she gets a taste of their own stupidity one day, expanded to the nth degree.

It just renews my faith in humanity that so many people were ready, willing and able to rescue and adopt these three beautiful furballs -  and it just amazes me how quickly people mobilized to do so!!

Maybe I’m just feeling optimistic but it sure feels good to see that on the one hand, one person didn’t care about the lives of these dogs and on the other hand, so many people DID care - rescue workers, Animatch volunteers, families who applied to adopt, etc. How wonderful is that, eh?!

Hey ladies!  I will be volunteering at Pasta for Pups and look forward to seeing you again!  It will be a lot of fun even if there will be no fur flying around that night!  LOL Thank you for coming out to support Animatch! :-D

    PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a gorgeous puppy and poem. She is a precious gem that you do not want to lose. She has an amazing story that brings tears to your eyes. She is a bundle of joy.
                      ****************************
Are there any crazy dog lovers out there? Are there any of you that want to make a change? I mean about saving/helping dogs that are hurt, lost and neglected… Well… If there are.. you must read this…
                      *****************************
I was looking at the animatch video, and I clicked on another, and another. Until I had tears in my eyes… (a lot) I also saw pictures of dogs that were very skinny, hurt, and abandoned. Then I said to myself ” I want to make a change.” But how? I am only one person. So I need your help. With one person, not much can happen, but with 20, things are more possible. Then by telling your family and friends, it can build up to 50, 100, 1000. Who knows what can happen. Any age, gender it does not matter. You can be the change. have any of you herd about Free the Children? It started with one person, Krieg Kielburger, when he was around 10, and his brother, and now there are 10000 people that have joined. They help kids that are starving in Africa, Haiti, Asia…and even more. This is what can happen. Maybe you think it is weird, making a club for this reason, but imagine being that dog that is suffering and is abandonned. If you would like to help me, just send me an email to bkamke@lbpearson.qc.ca.
Thanks for reading this, and tell as many people as possible.

Skye will be coming back. The family’s other dog who was also adopted from us, and by the way is an absolute sweetheart with other dogs, was not tolerant of a bouncy puppy getting in her face. The family has fallen in love with Skye and want only the best for her.

Please note, Animatch does not place puppies in homes where people are away at work all day. Puppies need guardians who will be there to teach them how to live in a home with humans. For instance, why chewing shoes is a “No no,” and how going to the bathroom outside gets the best reaction from mom and dad. And even a treat!
