My name is Mickey and I am a 2.5-year-old, Yorkshire terrier. My senior owner loved me very much but was no longer able to take care of me. I wasn’t socialized too much, so I am very suspicious of people when we first meet. When I first arrived at the Animatch Centre I was terrified and overwhelmed, so I would try to snap at anyone that would try to handle me. Everyone at the Centre has been very patient with me and although I am still a little skittish, I am now learning that no one means me any harm. I weigh only 4.5 lbs. but I am a terrier through and through – feisty, determined, and a little bossy. It would be a good idea if I was adopted by an experienced guardian with plenty of love and patience who will know how to work with me on accepting new people. I promise that it will pay off and I will quickly become a great companion. I would be an awesome dog for a retired, single person or couple. I should go for walks every day and will need to learn how to walk on leash. Yorkies do need frequent brushing and grooming and occasional appointments with a professional groomer. I have never lived with children and because I can be a little nervous and skittish, I might get frightened of their sudden movements and snap. Oh, another thing. We terriers are great watchdogs and I will sound the alarm (bark) at strange sounds and noises. Are you looking for a small dog with a huge amount of love to give? Well look at you - you are almost the spitting image of Camy.. could very well be one of her pups ?? Camy in the past year and a half has put on major weight and now weights in at 4 lbs 6 oz… !! Guard dogs they are for sure - they believe inside their heads that they are related to either a G-Dane or G.Sheppard. People, there is so much love to be had in such a small body it is almost unbelievable. Opening your home and heart to these little ones is an adventure for both of you (laugh) Good luck Mickey - trust your friends at Animatch - a new world will be opening just for you…. Camy and Belle are going on vacation - there first trip on a Ferry…..... be watching for Fan Mail or You Tube Clip shortly
