Poor Bono!  Well, you’re in the right place, that’s for sure.  I always said that there should be no such thing as “fashion breeds”... Every period has its breed :  like 101 dalmatians, then Air Bud goldens…  and all those yorkshire cuties… Bernese ... All ways to stimulate the puppy mill market!!!  A lot of chocolate labs these days?  Why not get one!  And soon there will be tons and tons of goldendoodles…  People should really do their research…  I agree totally!

    Hello,
We recently have had to put our best friend Brody, which we got through Rosie’s adoption down. I had an immune diffency, which would had prevented him from recovering from a double rear leg surgery he needed to walk. Our house seems very empty with out him.

I was wondering if I could meet Bono?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kathy

Hello Kathy!  Sorry to hear about your loss, it is always heartbreaking…  As you might know, the volunteers don’t always have the time to read the posts on these pages.  So to put all chances on your side, the best thing you can do is to fill up the adoption form to have someone call you if you’re considered a match.  Also there are supposed to be meet & greets on Feb 18 and 25… I don’t know which dogs are supposed to be there, but if you’re not too far, why not go and see?  You never know…  Good luck Kathy!

I am getting it right, guys?

Sounds right to me Viviane! Sorry, but this “NO TIME” s**t, is really starting to get on my nerves…How does one “have the time” then suddenly, “not have the time”??? Other people’s lives really must be ever so exciting, always ever changing! One minute a dog fits into the schedule, the next minute it no longer does….I promised myself that I would keep my less than positive comments to myself in 2012….but this really gets to me! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Another BEAUTIFUL dog tossed aside, (not really caring who I’m pissing off today)...thankfully, the threshold that Bono has crossed has led him into one of the best places in the world that he could be…UNTIL….he is in his next best place, his FOREVER home! (What an interesting concept, ay???) Good luck gorgeous boy! I believe that lots of folks will be dreaming of making you theirs! P.S. Don’t scold me Kat….I’m in a mood~

Debbie : I don’t believe Kat would scold - most probably applaud - she let go an awful lot just the other day.  I am 100% in agreement with you.  If you cannot committ then buy a toy dog, pick any breed there are plenty at Toy R Us.
These are live dogs ... they have feelings - they love - only to have that love shoved down their throats.
Imagine loving your family for like some on this site for 4 - 5 and 6 years then one day, going for a walk/drive with your best friend only to end your daily walk/drive at a local pound.  Yep, your best friend decided he no longer had time for you…. wouldn’t you be confused - wouldn’t your world be very frightening… from a home to a pound… just think about the new sounds etc… some are lucky, other rescues retrieve them but some dogs are not so lucky - their lives ended because his best friend had no more time for him or her…. So sad ... so bloody maddening to those of us that had or has sick furbabies who’d drag their tongue on pavement to change the outcome of their furbabies lives.

You’re doing a great job Viviane!

Kathy, if you are interested in Bono, go to the top of the page and where you see ‘Dog Adoption’ there is a drop down menu. The seventh item on the list is the Dog Adoption Form. There is also an avacado green banner (stripe) just above these comments that says,” Please fill the Adoption Form if you would like to adopt Bono.” If you are a good match for Bono, a volunteer will contact you in a few days.

I’ve never had a dog before Chloe (Golden Retriever), and never could have imagined the amount of work a sporting dog is. You think you do… but unless you live it, you really don’t lol

Bono is at an age where he needs ALOT of exercise. I remember many early morning walks and dog park visits with Chloe at that age, in the cold or rain, cursing inwardly about how much this sucks… but I did it because she needed it and it made her so happy and that’s all the reward I needed.

Instead of sitting on the couch after a long days work, relaxing and watching an episode of Desperate Housewives, you need to choose to get off your butt, and spend some time walking and playing with your dog. You need to be ready to decide to wake up extra early each morning, so you can give your dog a good fast paced walk and play before leaving for work.

You need to do this EVERYDAY, even when you are sick, even when you are hung over…
*looks at a picture of her furry kids smiling* Its a choice you need to make smile

There is always a perfect home for any dog, calm or hyper… I just want to point out that there is now a new award event, the Golden Collar Awards, for the acting doggies.  And a Jack Russel, Uggie, won the award for his role in the movie “The artist”!  He was also nominated for the movie ” Water for the elephants”.  He’s now 10 years old, and he had been abandonned by his 2 first families, due to his energy level.  His trainer, Omar Von Muller, heard about him at that moment and took him in to foster him until he found a home, but he thought that he was so intelligent and wanted to work so hard, he decided to adopt him…  Don’t let adoption dogs scare you away!!!  Uggie now even has his page on Wikipedia… more than his former families can say, I think!

What a handsome boy!  His fur seems so soft and silky, those ears are just crying out for a rub, don’t you think girls? grin

Have to agree with you here, Debbie, people use the lamest excuses to give up their dogs.  I think it is too easy to get a dog if you really want one - pet stores and flea markets and Kijiji sellers are not regulated.  BUYING a dog (or other pet) are impulse buys for most people.  They don’t do the research and they don’t think it through before buying a pet, than freak out when they start to realize what’s involved. If everyone went through as much trouble as Animatch and some of the other rescues to ensure the dog suits the family, far fewer animals would be abandoned.

When I got my 6yr lab from Animatch, I was completely honest with them.  I told them I was looking for an older lab (without separation anxiety).  I was working an 8 hour day but I’m very active.  They gave me Chanel and we started at 6am every day (weekends included) with an hour long intensive walk, then two other walks in the afternoon and evening.  Now she’s 11yrs and we still walk pretty much the same routine (though somewhat at a slower pace). People should be honest with the rescue places about their lifestyle and honest with themselves…and do their research!!
