UPDATE:  TADA….. I made it to the first spot on the website.  I’ve been at the Animatch Centre for quite some time but I have to say, everyone has been so nice to me.  A few months ago I had a bit of a problem with a bladder stone ... ouch!  I’ve had surgery and now I’m as good as new.  Ii have two tiny crystals in my kidneys but that should not cause a problem.  I will have to eat special food and be on meds, but neither the food, nor the meds will break the bank.  Despite being 10 years old, there is still a lot of sparkle in my eyes and wags in my tail.  In fact, I’m always ready for a nice, brisk walk and I love to spend time outdoors.  Unlike some dogs who don’t like the rain or the cold, I’m always game to go outside.  All dogs, even seniors like me, deserve a home with families that will love them for life.  I am anxious to go to a home where I can have a dog bed of my own.  If you are looking to make a huge difference in a dog’s life, you can think about adopting me.  If you are looking for a friend, I could sure use one.

Bacardi is a 10-year-old, Shih Tzu, with lots of life in him still.  He did not deserve to be “dumped” at the pound because his owner no longer had any use for him.  Despite his age, Bacardi appears not to have slowed down in the least.  Bacardi gets along well with other dogs and loves going for walks. Although he is still has a lot of spunk, Bacardi’s guardian will not have to contend with that puppy-crazy energy.  We do realize that people are afraid to adopt a senior dog because of how soon they might lose them.  All we can say is imagine giving Bacardi a .loving, secure and happy retirement home for whatever time he has left His life, and yours, will be richer for it.  Bacardi has lots of love to give and deserves a family to return that love.  Since we received no history on Bacardi from the pound, an adult home would best suit him.  Would you consider giving Barcardi a comfortable and loving home for his golden years?  Please fill in the Adoption Form if you would like to adopt Bacardi..

I know, the older my dogs get (warts and all) the more I love them.  I don’t get it either.

Having just spent some quality time grooming Bacardi I can say that this dog has energy !! I thought he was 10 months never mind 10 years ! And what a super sweet personality he was just as content to cuddle as he was to play around . Just another beautiful dog to spread some love to us all at Animatch =)

Ana; so sorry for your loss and pain…maybe there is a reason that you keep thinking about Bacardi…..We adopted our new pet from ANIMATCH three months after the loss of our beloved pooch, after 15.5 years…..

I adopted (saved from euthanasia) my now 12 years old giant schnauzer when she was already 10 .... 2 years later and she is the most lovable pooch! Although I know as a big dog she is nearing the end of her life, whatever amount of time I’ve had and still have with Nellie is great! I can’t imagine people just giving up their pet “just because” .....

I simply cannot imagine Bacardi being at Animatch so long… there is absolutely nothing wrong with loving a mature dog. Granted, your luving time may be shorter than if one adopted a younger dog BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Your quality of L U V I N G is not to be feared.  Christmas is just around the corner, maybe the Christmas Angels will work their magic for Bacardi.  Just keep the sprit up - your forever family is out there…...

I think it’s sad that this little guy is still at Animatch. He’s a beautiful boy! I hate that my city has a 2-dog limit as I’d love to take in the older dogs for the few years they have left.

Lori, not sure if he gets along with cats, but i’m sure he would be fine as long as they didn’t bother with him. Why don’t you fill in an adoption form?
