Are you looking for a friend? If you are, I could sure use one. My name is Anouk and lo and behold I find myself in need of a home in my senior years. My family was moving to an apartment and couldn’t take me along. The Centre is very nice and Helen and all the Volunteers are really trying to make me feel welcome but it’s not like having your own home. It’s hard to get any peace and quiet when there are so many puppies running through the place like they are racing in the Indy 500. I’m not geriatric, I’m mature. I still love to go for long walks – of course, after you’ve finished your coffee and read your newspaper. I also like taking long naps after my walks. I do know what it takes to get along in a family and become part of a pack. People say that you can’t teach old dog new tricks, but I pretty much know them all! I’ve learned most of life’s lessons – shoes are for walking and bones are for chewing. You might be worried that you won’t have as much time with me as you would a young dog. But just think of how happy you would be to know that you have given me my retirement home. Just like humans, old dogs like me need love too! I certainly don’t care how old you are, if you don’t care how old I am. What you see is what you get ... me, a dog who will love you with all my heart. So, what do you say? What a beauty! I adopted my lab from Animatch when he was 8 and he is now 13 and still brings us so much joy!

Unfortunately not. She is truly a darling, beautiful and mellow - a lady who’s been there and done that. Such a wonderful spirit. But… We have a five month old English bulldog puppy who we think would give Anouk a hard time. They didn’t get along famously and for the sake of the dogs, they have to. Its their life as much as ours - if not more. I am still searching and have sent requests to Joanne about some of the others.

Hmm…I think my last message sounds worse than i meant. I would like to point out that Anouk will make someone very happy, we were just worried she wouldn’t be as happy as she could be with us and an overly excited bulldog.

Hey Nina,

That’s too bad for you and Anouk but the people at Animatch really know what they are doing. I am sure they know that you are looking for a furball companion for your bulldog and will find you the perfect match. I am sure it will be woth the wait !!!
