Remembering Susie

I adopted Susie (aka “Sushi”) from Animatch in 2004. No one knows what her life before Animatch was like - she was found as a stray, had her vocal cord cut, was dirty and matted. Estimated at the age of 6, she came to us as a shy little girl but blossomed into a confident, loving companion over the years. At home, she loved treats and would do all sorts of tricks for them. Susie was an affectionate girl and loved to lay at our feet, asking for a belly rub, or simply just staying near us. In the past two years her age started to show. She had a chronic eye problem which required routine treatment, and had to undergo surgery to have a lump removed from her leg. But she came out of every episode like a little fighter, and had the sweetest temperament no matter what the situation was.
Susie was diagnosed with lymphoma in late July. Because of her age and her health, we only did a brief chemo session with her and had to stop. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2011. She was about 13 years old.
Susie is being missed dearly. She was a loyal companion to us and very loving in every way. She will always have a special place in my heart and I will always remember her as the sweet girl that she was.

I am so sorry that you lost your little Susie. You gave her 6 wonderful years—her best years—and I am sure that she always felt loved and cared for. A dog’s greatest flaw is that their lives are much too short.
Very sorry for your loss~ Susie was very lucky to have shared her life with you. Enjoy the wonderful memories. Love the photo of sweet Susie and Santa.
Thanks everyone…I hope to see her one day crossing the rainbow bridge…
So sorry to hear about Susie’s passing. Her life was forever changed for the better when she found you and yours too will always be changed for having shared her life. They truly are treasures.
Sorry to post here…there is no comment box available (yet) on the “IN MEMORY OF CAMY” post. Thanks,
To Susie’s family, we are so deeply sad for the loss of your beloved Susie.
I read once that dogs are miracles with paws. The miracle of Susie is despite having been so badly neglected by humans before arriving at Animatch, she kept an open heart and gave you her trust and loyalty. She never let her past experience color her ability to share a ton of love, laughter and happiness with you. You must be a very wonderful family to have earned that love and trust and I am sure she would have told you so herself if only dogs could speak Human or we could understand Dog. Take care.
