Kody chasing butterfies
Hello Everyone: Today was such a nice day that even the butterflies were out, the furbabies were having a grand time sunning. I took a picture of Kody but will let him tell his story.
Usually, it’s Camy’s job to run after those white things with wings, but Camy is not feeling too good lately - she says she’s a Supervisor now - for me to follow her instructions….. She told me to make sure I chase only butterflies not to get mixed up with the yellow sound making flying things… Camy says they hurt !!! Will be sure not to chase those !!
So, here I am guarding Mom’s flowers - had lots of fun - Mom took lots and lots of pictures but she can’t put them all on Fan Mail - Hé Auntie Debbie - Mom told me you find me sooooooo cute. How do you like my standing at attention for those darn butterflies.

Stalking the butterflies, contemplating his next move…very cute indeed! It’s true Kody, watch out for those “yellow sound making flying things”, Zoey and Millie can both attest to the fact that “MAN, that really does HURT!!!” Enjoy your wonderful life, Kody! P.S. Soon you’ll be playing in the snow…but not too soon, I hope!
We are trying not to think about snow !! Northern New Brunswick is the Capital of the ” White Gold “. My husband was just saying we have to get Kody hooked up with a flag so that we don’t lose him in our snow drifts.
Kody is doing so well - he isn’t afraid as much of a broom & mop - comes to us now when we call his name. The only thing I am having problems with is ” walking on leash” - it is not a pleasant experience for him - something went wrong when he was first introduced to this I am sure. How to turn him around, thinking of calling Ceasar
Oh I’d LOVE to see that, Lily! We’d get to see Kody as well as Mom in action…yihaaaaa! :-D I’d call him for help with Camy first though - he’d figure something out for you. Hope she is feeling better soon. xoxoxoxox
I knew you’d love that Kat ..... I am getting help though via Animatch volunteer with various suggestions. It’s not even a month yet that Kody is home and we are just amazed at how much he has learned - how far he has come. I am going to try to video tape his antics. He is special, that is for sure our Kody.
Thru Animatch, I also got help with Camy’s eating problem. I now cook Camy’s food it’s a lot harder than it looks trying to figure out if I am decreasing her protein intake BUT AT LEAST SHE IS EATING. The KD diet - low protein our Vet had recommended, she would not eat - she kept losing weight - we really feared losing her. She has a bit more energy - I feel she has put on a few onces - she has started playing with Kody again so, let’s just hope I am going in the rite directions. Next blood and urine test will tell. My husband puts it this way: it’s better to see her eat something and ajusting her meds than seeing her decrease daily - we would have lost her at the rate she was going. I specially want to Thank Joanne for steering us to a volunteer who has experience with Home Cooking for our Furbabies.
I’m really glad to hear Camy is doing better - it’s probably a good sign you’re on the right track too. I’m pretty sure when (not if) Camy gets back to her ole self, you will have solved walking Kody on a leash too. She will just show him herself
and if that’s the case, I can’t wait for the video! :-D
Good news re: Camy. Happy to hear there is improvement! I am sure that you are breathing a little easier!
Yes, but renal defiency is no laughing matter - there are so many what if’s .... what if today’s meal is too high on protein - what about carbs is there too much or too little etc.. I spend more time now in grocery store just checking labels than placing food in the cart. When it comes to veggies & fruits I read everything that I can so that I don’t give something to Camy that will be harmful for her. I keep monitoring her water intake ... things like that.
It’s true Lily, we are not walking in your shoes, (and no one is laughing). It really does sound like a tremendous challenge. You are doing the very best that you possibly can do for Camy, and that is ALL that you can do. You have the support of many people, and we can only hope for the best outcome for sweet little Camy! She is very lucky to have you as her guardian!
Thanks Deb - I didn’t mean to imply that anyone was laughing it’s just a figure of speach on my part, being french sometimes my sentences go left where I want to go right.
Without help and support I sincerely think that I would have < crashed and burned >. I read Darlene’s post - what is waiting for her just around the bend - my heart goes out to her. Been there did that and it’s no walk in the park. You know Debbie - Animatch is just not only a place to adopt our furbabies, they just don’t turn their backs on us after the adoption papers are signed. You find support via their volunteers - they have a vast network of people to assist us whenever in need, all you have to do is ask. Then, there is this forum where you can pour your joys, concerns, fears, sadness - each of us help each other on a daily basis. It doesn’t matter what the subject someone here can help. Somedays, all we need is confirmation “your doing good - your doing the best you can etc.” it just takes the pressure off your shoulders for awhile. Thanks my Friend and no, I am the lucky one to be walking in this life with Belle - Camy and our little man Kody, knowing that they return the love you give them is such a glorious feeling.
It’s so nice to be able to read comments each day from you and Debbie and the others - it’s like participating in an ongoing conversation and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.
Animatch is an amazing rescue and not from my own experience but from comparing your experiences to my own as a volunteer and adoptive mama…we adopted Belle about 6 weeks ago from another rescue (not Animatch). She had her basic vaccinations done when she was collected off the street back in June and thinking I was doing them a favour agreed to take her before she was completley vetted. It took many follow-ups to have the rescue make the appointment with their vet - I was getting a little frustrated and even had an appointment with my own vet. I would’ve paid the whole thing out of my pocket if I had to but they finally stepped in. Today she was spayed as well as underwent surgery to remove two mammarian tumours. She is being tested for parasites which was a bit of a shock too and the first thing I thought about was Maeggi and how my ignorance about Belle’s health may have endangered her.
Many rescues are working against the odds, underfunded and overworked, so I’m not blaming anyone but myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love Belle to death and would not trade her for the world. However, it would have been so much more wonderful dealing with a rescue like Animatch who fully vets their adoptees before they go to their adoptive families as well as supports and follows up with the adoptive family to make sure everything is ok.
From my own experience, I cannot stress how important it is for a potential adoptive family to make sure their new pet is completely vetted before completing the adoption and to learn about the rescue’s philosophy regarding post-adoptive support available to them. It could make the difference between a wonderful experience and one fraught with worry and frustration.

Sweet Jesus I nearly peed in bed. HAHAHAHAHA….
” Come on Baby give Daddy a morning kiss !” I opened my eyes and he was talking to the dogs
