Keep up the good work and never give up

Hello Helen,

So it has been 6 years since Caillou came into our home, and alot has changed.  We now live in Calgary.  We also have an 18 yr old Boston Terrier named Pogo and we have recently adopted a little girl from a local shelter named Bailley.  Bailley was rescued and transported to Calgary from Mexico.  My little girl Shelby was unable to come to Calgary due to a liver shunt and I was forced to make the sad decision to put her down, but I have fond memories of her and a nice picture and her ashes going up our staircase.

Caillou has seen better days.  We recently discovered that he had a grade 6 heart murmur and he was diagnosed with Cushings Disease.  Pogo was also disgnosed with a heart murmur so they are both on the same medication.  Both dogs are doing well in the heart area, however the Cushings Disease is becoming overwhelming for Caillou.  We tried the top of the line medication for this but he did not react to it very well so we made the decision to stop treatment.  I have recently ordered some all natural supplements that have been proven to help fight Cushings Disease, so we are hopeful it will help the situation.  However, Caillou is still his same independent self.  He lives to eat and lounge around.  Having the new puppy has brought a bit of turmoil into the house, Bailley doesn’t understand why the 2 old men in her life don’t want to play, and the 2 old men have no patience for a young child.  However Bailey will eventually mature and calm down as all puppies do.

I am including a picture of them for you.  By the way, my Mom was the one who adopted Adele back in March.  She came to visit us in Calgary with my parents and their other dog Daisey.  She is very cute and is very loved and spoiled.

I am always browsing your website even though we live away from Montreal now, so my thoughts are with you and the Animatch staff.  Keep up the good work and never give up.

Cindy Birch
