Charlie’s First Month Update

Hi everyone! On June 27th, it will be exactly a month since Charlie (formerly Waggit) came home. I wanted to send you an update to let you know he’s doing well and we’ve made great improvement! The peeing in the house is diminishing now. It still happens but not nearly as often. Learning the ways he is comfortable being approached, letting him get to the door on his own, giving lots of praise, rewards and reinforcement, etc., all contribute very positively. We’ve had a couple of visits now to my sister’s to see Marley (formerly Charity, who you can see in other fan mail posts), Brady and Jake. Charlie is good in the car, very sociable with other dogs (has no problem helping himself to their toys either!) and meets people well. His personality, like his eyes, is bright and happy and he loves to play and cuddle. Hard to believe he’s been here a month already but it’s been wonderful - I’m completely in love

Really nice to see Charlie (Waggit) with his head held high; he looks so much more confident. Thank you for being patient with the toilet training ... it takes time. People sometimes just don’t understand that patience and consistency are so important .... and a good mop or absorbent paper towels!
Hi Joanne! I’m really glad, too, that he does have a LOT more confidence. Next time, I’ll post a whole body photo so you can see how handsome he is! Very seldom does he cower away from people anymore. Training him to walk on the leash is slow because he’s still learning all the sights and sounds of his neighborhood but he’s had a small handful of productive walks so far. He gets lots of exercise every day, all the same, and we work regularly with the leash. I agree with you on the toilet training - time, patience and consistency. He always does his business outside and even goes when I ask him to, which is fantastic. Indoor accidents are more about uncertainty - he has to be given the time to understand what’s happening and that it’s time to go out. No rushing him. Then, he often makes it cleanly outdoors. If not, no big deal… it’s just pee… it washes up
He’s a beautiful dog and I thank Animatch every day because I’m very lucky to have him.
Hey! I know that handsome boy! Elaine, I think our dogs are the most photogenic ones in our family
. Charlie is a very welcome visitor at our house. He’s been amazing and seems to feel quite at home. Tell him I bought a couple new toys he might like to claim!
Just want to thank Animatch for pairing up the perfect dog with my perfect sister. From what my nieces tell me, Charlie is as smitten with Elaine and she is with him. Choosing to bring a new dog into her home was not a whim for my sister. He was long awaited and when she saw his eyes, she knew. Please don’t ever tire of the great work you do. It’s not only the dogs you bring peace and happiness to.
