Dog Safety Tips Book and Video
I just found a really interesting book and video group on YouTube about Dog Safety Tips and Videos.
I lost one of my dog about 3 years ago. A 9 yo german shepherd mix… We were at the park with my other 2 dogs and he was running around as always. And then suddenly he felt on his side with just one little scream. His heart stopped right there. In 30 seconds I saw him go away in front of me. I was right there kneeing next to him telling him to breath… Not knowing what to do. I wish I had knew how to do a CPR maneuver on my own dog.
These emergency situation can happen anytime. I think this is a must read book for the safety of your dogs.
About this book:
“We know their favorite spots to scratch. We know which funny noises make them cock their heads. We know what treats they love the best. But do we know how to keep our dogs safe? The truth is, we often don’t consider what hazards lurk in our home and garden until an incident occurs. Each year, thousands of dogs are seriously hurt and even killed by a host of easily preventable accidents. The Safe Dog Handbook teaches readers about the myriad ways to ensure a safe home and outdoor experience for their dogs. Full of practical information, this book is an essential guide for any dog owner.”
You can buy the book on Amazon.ca

I ordered my book… Can’t wait to read it… Did you join the video group on YouTube? There is a ton of great information in there!
Pet first aid is so beneficial. Its helpful to both know what you need to do and have practised it before an emergency so that you rememer the steps. I was certified in in pet first aid with Pet Tech this spring!
I have spoken with Melanie Monteiro, the book author, and she did say that CPR on a dog is not always successful, but it’s always worth the try when it happens. And besides that there are so many emergency cases and manual checkups we can do on our dogs to make sure they are physically ok.
How was the class of pet first aid Miranda? And where did you take this class?
Yes, CPR isn’t always effective, but at least you know you did all you could to help save your animal. I enjoyed the class I took it covered how to assess an animals level of consciousness, CPR, choking, bleeding, shock, heatstroke and frost bite, burns, fractures, poisoning, and how to do a nose to tail assessment of your pet’s health. I would reccomend it. It was hosted by Animal Adoption Montreal. The website for Pet Tech is www.pettech.net
Thank you very much for the information Miranda
I’ll check their website and classes…
