Your new website is so beautiful… I visit daily,I am just amazed at all the beautiful furbabies just waiting to make some lucky family complete. If I can make a comment/suggestion; it would be nice if dates were incorporated in the Fan Mail. I don’t know if the person sharing their joy at adopting is a recent adoptee or not. Some comments states ” I adopted 2 years ago ” etc.. then we know. When I visit the successful adoption, I can’t go to the next page nor in Fan Mail. I keep coming to the first page all the time. I am hoping to follow some of these beautiful furbabies’ new lives/homes.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.
Right now, the system is not build for people to leave a date when they send the fan mail. We would have to figure out either which dog people are talking about every time and then find the date that dog was adopted. Or the people could enter a date they adopted in the form field. But I’m sure a lot of people don’t remember the date sometimes (I adopted 3 dogs from Animatch and I never remember exactly when I did… Times goes too fast when you have a dog… hehe).
When you say you can’t go to the “next page” in the fan mail do you mean that when you click on the bottom pages numbers the browser doesn’t lead the next page?
It seems to work for me. I’ll have to do some tests on other browsers maybe… Thanks for the note!

Love the new website! It’s crisp, clear, beautiful photos and very user friendly. I did notice something this morning…when I went to the FAN MAIL, (first page), Another Update from Zoey (Plush)...that’s my dog, it said 0 COMMENTS, when I scrolled down, low and behold, there was 1 comment there. Guess that’s a technical thing! I also love how the website is CONSTANTLY up-to-date and never static! Keep up the great work, in all aspects!

I have checked Zoey’s fan mail post and I do see “2 comments” in the top… I’m not sure what went wrong on your side… Again it might be a cache problem since the site as been live only for a couple of days. Here is a screenshot of what I see: http://snapplr.com/eyf9

The Zoey update that you are referring to is an old one, and yes, there are two comments. I am referring to the one that I posted on December 16, 2009, (a picture of Zoey sleeping with our cat). I am curious what you will see there. Let me know! Thanks for your quick response~
Hmmm… This is a weird bug. I will have to check this in the Database. I added a comment and it counted mine. Not sure why it’s not counting the first one. All other comments should add up tho…

Hi David: Thank you for replying to my comment - I don’t think you understood my meaning when I said dates: I didn’t mean the dates the furbaby was adopted, I meant the date the comment /picture was posted to the Fan Mail. I see that the dates posted on some were included. It’s just easier this way since I didn’t know if a post was dated 2008 or 2009 possibly just recently. Great Job

We’ve been working hard the last months for this new site and we just hope that we find even more good families for our dogs. Seems to be working well so far!
@Liliane: I guess the dates were not showing when you checked the first time.. I always find little details through the site that needs fix. Next step is a store… I’ve been working on this for a while now…

Is it just me or…on the FAN MAIL page, at the bottom, you used to be able to go to the next page (i.e. 2,3,4,5, etc.). Has that feature been removed? I miss it…(I like to go back and look at my Zoey updates!) ; ) Thanks!

On which dog are you having problems?
All dogs have a comment form in their respective page where you can leave comments. You can see that most already have a lot of comments from users…
You should be able to leave a comment the same way you just left a comment on this post…

Hi David,
I just had a great idea! I think that it would be great if this website also had a FORUM, where Adoptive families could log on and discuss issues, ask questions, etc. with other adoptive families regarding their pets. We all have concerns when we bring home our new fur-babies. Some of us are first time pet owners. Some of us “old pros” may have helpful hints, words of wisdom, etc. It is always fun and informative to discuss pet “problems” or even just to brag about our animals and share funny stories. I think a Forum would be a great addition to this already wonderful website. Something to think about, maybe???

Thanks for your suggestion. The thing is we once had a forum but no one was using it. Forums also need a lot of moderation (so that questions are answered quickly and that no arguments escalate to certain degrees)...
I could see what I can do to build a small support section for questions and concerns. Some 3rd party application exists that are clean and simple to use.
I’ll see what I can do when I get a bit more time to get to it! Thanks

Je suis d’accord avec Joanne, étant francophone (mais bilingue) je crois que votre site s’améliorerait grandement en y ajoutant un côté français. Je suis également prête à aider pour les traductions comme j’avais déjà mentionné à Johanne lors de l’adoption de mon Yorkie Taxi.
N’hésite pas à communiquer avec moi via courriel, j’ai beaucoup de temps libre car je suis en congé de maternité préventif!

mon nom est Brigitte et j’ai adopte une petite chienne l’ete passee chez Animatch. Je voulais juste t’informer que j’ai recu 2 courriels, des conversations entre toi et certains membres d’Animatch. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi cela arrive mais je crois que je ne devrais pas recevoir ces courriels. Ce ne sont pas des conversations d’une importance capitale mais elles sont quand meme privees entre toi et les membres. Tu peux m’ecrire si tu veux pour qu’on puisse regler ce petit probleme.

Je crois que les courriel que tu reçois sont en fait les commentaires de ce blogue… Il y a un bouton en dessous de la boite de commentaire qui dit: Notify me of follow-up comments… lorsque celle-ci est cliquée, tu recevras les commentaires qui suivront dans le blogue. Donc tu as du recevoir les derniers commentaires qui m’ont été adressés j’imagine car je vois que tu avais fais un commentaire plus haut dans ce même blogue.

Yes, David, it works now! I had mentioned it in a comment I made here on February 9. I am surprised that no one else noticed! Maybe I am the only one living in the past!! Hee! Hee! ; ) I still like to go back and read my Zoey’s (Plush) old updates. Thank you!

Hi David…was not sure how else to reach you, so I came back here…is it just me, or no one seems to be able to leave a comment on my latest FAN MAIL: My Week of Firsts by ZOEY a.k.a. Plush - posted this August 2010. There is no box to type in, etc., Zoey feels left out!!! ; ) Is it me? I tried REFRESH….Let me know. Thanks!

I was just wondering if it’s JUST ME but in the past few weeks I am having “issues” when viewing the FAN MAIL section. 1) I am getting alot of repetition of the exact same fan mail…2) I am not seeing the pictures submitted to go along with the fan mail which are clearly there because some of the comments made are mentioning the photos submitted,(i.e. how cute the dog looks, etc. 3) sometimes there is NO BOX to make a comment in.

I have made the FanMail Automatic.
Before I had to check each FanMail and approve it by hand.
Right now what is happening is people don’T read the instructions and try to upload pictures that are larger than the limit size and so their message gets through and not the image.
And for the comments it’s because they use titles with punctuation that the system won’t parse correctly. I don’t have time to do the hand checks for each entry anymore so it’S the only option available right now. So people need to read instructions before uploading or else their image won’t show up.
